Protein intake does play a role in overall growth and development, but its impact on height is limited and influenced by various factors. While protein is essential for tissue repair, including muscle and bone growth, it’s important to understand that height is primarily determined by genetics and certain environmental factors.

A good protein intake is an important part of a healthy diet for people of all ages. However, there is no evidence that increasing protein intake can increase height.

Height is determined by a number of factors, including genetics, nutrition, and environment. Genetics is the most important factor, accounting for about 80% of a person’s height. Nutrition plays a role, but it is less important than genetics.

During childhood and adolescence, a balanced diet that includes adequate protein is important for supporting healthy growth and development. Protein provides the building blocks necessary for the body to develop tissues, including bones, muscles, and organs. However, simply increasing protein intake beyond what is necessary for normal growth will not significantly impact height.

Factors that primarily influence height include:

Genetics: Genetic factors have the most significant impact on an individual’s height. Height tends to follow a familial pattern, meaning that children tend to have heights similar to those of their parents.

Nutrition: Proper nutrition is important during childhood and adolescence to reach one’s potential height. A well-balanced diet that includes essential nutrients like protein, vitamins, and minerals is crucial for overall health and growth.

Hormones: Hormones play a key role in growth, particularly growth hormone and sex hormones. Growth hormone, produced by the pituitary gland, stimulates the growth of bones and other tissues.

Sleep: Adequate sleep is important for growth and development, especially during adolescence when growth spurts typically occur.

Physical Activity: Engaging in regular physical activity supports overall health and may have a positive impact on bone health and posture.

Adequate protein intake is important for growth and development, but it is not clear how much protein is needed to maximize height. The recommended daily intake of protein for adults is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. However, some studies have suggested that higher protein intakes may be beneficial for growth.

A study published in the journal Nutrients in 2022 found that children who consumed more protein had a higher growth velocity, or rate of growth, than children who consumed less protein. However, the study did not find that protein intake was associated with final height.

While a good protein intake is important for overall health and growth, it’s just one of many factors that contribute to height. Excessive protein intake beyond the body’s needs is not likely to result in an increase in height. It’s important to maintain a balanced diet, get enough sleep, engage in regular physical activity, and focus on overall well-being rather than trying to manipulate protein intake solely for the purpose of increasing height. If you have concerns about growth or nutrition, it’s recommended to consult a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice.

Another study, published in the journal Pediatrics in 2017, found that children who consumed more protein had a higher bone mineral density than children who consumed less protein. Bone mineral density is important for bone health and may contribute to height.

However, both of these studies were observational studies, which means that they cannot prove that protein intake caused the observed differences in growth or bone mineral density. More research is needed to determine the role of protein intake in height and growth.

If you are concerned about your height, it is important to talk to your doctor. Your doctor can assess your growth and development and recommend a healthy diet and lifestyle that may be beneficial for you.

Source – https://telanganatoday.com/

KCR planned the Godavari-Musi link when the Kaleshwaram project was redesigned

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s announcement of flushing the polluted Musi river with the pristine Godavari waters has obviously stumped the opposition, but the fact is that the Chief Minister had factored it in this plan when he redesigned the mega Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

The Godavari-Musi is a well-planned component of KLIS that was to serve as a precursor to the Musi River Front project. The interlinking of Godavari with Musi is also expected to substantially reduce groundwater pollution in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Yadadri-Bhongir and Nalgonda districts.

As per the plan, 700 cusecs of water will be brought to Osman Sagar (Gandipet) and Himayat Sagar from the 15 tmc capacity Kondapochamma Sagar every day. Water from Kondapochamma Sagar positioned at a height of 618 metres above sea level will be released to its canal network and will flow through gravity because of its location. The 127 km Sangareddy canal meant for irrigation and being built on war-footing will bring the Kondapochamma Sagar water to the twin reservoirs of Hyderabad.

KLIS Engineer in Chief (Hyderabad) Hariram Naik told Telangana Today that the Sangareddy canal, in fact, has been designed to carry 5,054 cusecs, of which 4,354 cusecs will be used for irrigation purposes and 700 cusecs to first cleanse Musi and subsequently fill the Musi reservoir in Nalgonda district with Godavari water. For this purpose, water will be diverted to Ravilkot tank near Shamirpet lake from the 27th km of Sangareddy canal. From Ravilkot, the water will travel to the twin reservoirs in Hyderabad covering a distance of 52 km. The government, however, is working on two options to cover the 52 km distance.

The Full Reservoir Level of Osman Sagar is 545 metres and water from Kondpochamma Sagar which is at a level of 618 metres will be feasible. Similarly, the FRL of Himayat Sagar is 357.25 metres and sending water from Osman Sagar to Himayat Sagar will also be easy, Naik said, adding that the water works department is also mulling another option of repairing and reopening an existing pipeline between the two reservoirs.

However, an alternative plan to link Sangareddy canal with the twin reservoirs is also under consideration. The aim is to divert the water with the help of a 22 km long pipeline from the 104.250 km point of the 127 km Sangareddy canal.

Naik said work on Sangareddy canal had already begun and the diversion of water at Ravilkot to Gandipet will have to be undertaken by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. “Of the 85 km distance from Kondapochamma Sagar to the twin reservoirs of Hyderabad, the water resources department will up 27 km of canal work and the HMWSSB will have to complete 52 km of the remaining course,” he said.

The water resources department is planning to fill Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs with 3.5 tmc each once the interlinking of Godavari with Musi is completed. It is hoped that the increase of water levels in both the reservoirs will raise the water table in the vicinity of 15 to 20 km. The KLIS water will then be released into Musi River to lessen the pollution content and increase dissolved oxygen levels in the highly polluted river.

The State government, under its Strategic Nala Development Project (SNDP), will construct several Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) which will purify the water before letting them into Musi restricting further pollution of the river.

There are plenty of people around the world who are desperate to be a little taller. Whether it’s by a few centimetres or by a lot more, shorter people seem to always cop some flak for being vertically challenged.

To compensate, some people have worn shoes that have a larger outer sole to give them a tiny bit more height, however it’s usually pretty noticeable.

Source – https://www.ama-assn.org/

The U.S. death toll from COVID-19 continues to climb and is likely to worsen as colder temperatures drive Americans indoors and case counts go up. And, while the pandemic appropriately receives much of the nation’s health care focus, Americans’ other chronic and acute medical and behavioral health conditions did not go away.

Many of these conditions, however, went untreated or undetected, resulting in worsening health for patients.

Also threatened is the financial viability of the U.S. health system’s private practice infrastructure. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that by April physician offices lost 286,000 jobs compared to their January levels. Although many of those jobs have been gained back, as of September, employment still remained below its January level.

A new AMA survey about the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact provides a window into the financial pressures physician practices have faced and continue to experience. The survey was conducted online from mid-July through the end of August.

The average number of in-person visits to physician offices fell from 97 per week to 57, according to the survey of 3,500 physicians who provided at least 20 hours of patient care a week prior to the pandemic.

Physicians averaged a 32% drop in revenue since February, the AMA survey shows. About one in five doctors saw revenue drop by 50% or more, while nearly one-third saw declines of between 25% and 49%. Only 19% of physicians reported no drop in revenue.

“Physician practices continue to be under significant financial stress due to reductions in patient volume and revenue, in addition to higher expenses for supplies that are scarce for some physicians” said AMA President Susan R. Bailey, MD. “More economic relief is needed now from Congress as some medical practices contemplate the brink of viability, particularly smaller practices that are facing a difficult road to recovery.”

Find out with the AMA about how to keep your physician practice going during COVID-19 pandemic and get in-depth advice from the AMA physician practice financial relief guide.

Telehealth a help, but not enough

Telehealth visits helped make up some of this gap. The average physician reported having six weekly telehealth visits in February. This grew to 29 during the height of telehealth use during the pandemic and then fell to 16 at the time of the survey.

Overall, 20% of physicians offered telehealth visits in a typical week in February. This grew to 77% during the height of telehealth use and then slipped to 68% at the time of the survey in July and August.

Physicians who were regularly conducting telehealth visits before the COVID-19 outbreak said they conducted 29 telehealth visits per week in February, 51 during the height of telehealth use and about 31 when surveyed.

Among physicians who were not offering telehealth prior to the pandemic telehealth visits averaged 23 per week at the height of telehealth use and they were still conducting about 12 per week when surveyed.

But even with the additional telehealth visits, physicians on average reported that total visits were down from 101 per week in February to 72 in July and August. More than two-thirds of doctors saw a fall in patient visits over this period, with 10% reporting a drop of 75% or more. Another 11% saw patient visits drop between 50% and 74%.

In an effort to keep our health care workers and patients safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the AMA has designed resources to support physicians and practices in expediting the implementation of telemedicine.

Big jump in PPE costs

One advantage of telehealth visits is that they allow physicians to conserve their supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), which is becoming a growing practice expense and can be difficult to obtain, according to the survey.

While 15% of physicians surveyed said their PPE spending has stayed the same, 64% said their spending on PPE has gone up—with 19% saying they were unsure. More specifically, nearly 40% of physicians reported that their PPE spending rose by more than half. Another 25% said their PPE expenses increased but by less than 50%. The average increase was 57%.

Across all practice types, 36% of physicians said that acquiring PPE was “very” or “extremely” difficult, though the degree of difficulty is linked to the size of the practice. Difficulty in obtaining PPE was particularly acute for smaller practices who might lack purchasing power or established vendor relationships.

Forty-one percent of physicians in practices of five doctors or fewer said that getting PPE was “very” or “extremely” difficult. The comparable number for physicians in practices of 50 or more doctors was 30%. Forty-three percent of physicians in practices that were physician-owned said that getting PPE was “very” or “extremely” difficult. The comparable number for physicians in hospital- or system-owned practices was 25%.

Learn how the AMA is advocating to end recurring PPE shortages.

These higher expenses combined with the lower revenue coming threaten practice viability.

Physicians in the survey agree that these three major federal reliefs programs were helpful:

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Public Health Emergency Fund, U.S. Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program, and the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment (AAP) programs.

While 40% of physicians surveyed said the AAP programs were “extremely” helpful, the initial repayment terms were harsh. But the AMA successfully advocated for longer repayment periods, lower per-claim recoupment amounts and a lower interest rate. The new terms were included in the recent continuing resolution bill that funds government operations through Dec. 11.

And, while the relief programs were helpful and appreciated the core revenue issues these programs were intended to address remain. Economic recovery remains difficult, particularly for smaller practices and, as the survey found, more relief is needed.

Mixing depth is the vertical height at which pollutants are suspended in the air. It reduces on cold days with calm wind speed

Pollution levels dipped in the national capital on Wednesday morning, primarily due to increased wind speed, but the relief could be short-lived.

At 10 am, the city recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 281, which falls in the “poor” category. Prior to this, the air quality remained “very poor” for five days on the trot.

The 24-hour average AQI was 312 on Tuesday, 353 on Monday, 349 on Sunday, 345 on Saturday and 366 on Friday.

An AQI between 0and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’,201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’. A senior scientist at the India Meteorological Department said favourable wind speed helped in dispersion of pollutants on Tuesday evening.

However, the wind speed has reduced again which will allow pollutants to accumulate, he said.

The air quality may slip into the “very poor” category by Thursday, the scientist said.

According to the Ministry of Earth Sciences’ air quality monitor, SAFAR, the share of stubble burning in Delhi’s PM2.5 concentration rose to 23 percent on Tuesday, the maximum this season so far.

It was 16 percent on Monday, 19 percent on Sunday and 9 percent on Saturday.

The wind direction and wind speed were favourable for the transport of pollutants from farm fires in Punjab, Haryana and neighbouring regions on Tuesday.

The number of farm fires in neighbouring states was 1,943 on Monday – the highest so far this season, SAFAR said.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the predominant wind direction was westerly-northwesterly and the maximum wind speed was 4 kilometers per hour. The minimum temperature was recorded at 13.8 degrees Celsius.

Calm winds and low temperatures trap pollutants close to the ground, while favourable wind speed helps in their dispersion. The air quality index (AQI) is likely to improve slightly on Wednesday but pollution levels will rise again on Thursday, SAFAR said.

The central government’s Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi said the national capital’s air quality was likely to remain “very poor” till October 31.

The air quality warning system said the ventilation index – a product of mixing depth and average wind speed – is likely to be around 4,000 metre square per second on Wednesday – unfavourable for dispersion of pollutants.

Mixing depth is the vertical height at which pollutants are suspended in the air. It reduces on cold days with calm wind speed.

A ventilation index lower than 6,000 sqm/second, with the average wind speed less than 10 kmph, is unfavourable for dispersal of pollutants. PTI

Definition

How it’s measured and why

Measuring large

Measuring small

Bottom line

Congratulations, you’re expecting! This exciting and sometimes nerve-wracking time can mean browsing dream strollers, finding fashionable maternity wear — and lots of doctors’ appointments.

Regular doctor checkups and tests during pregnancy are important for your health and your baby’s too. If you’re a pregnant person anywhere in the world, you’ll probably have your belly measured several times during your pregnancy.

As your belly starts to blossom, your doctor will measure your growing bump regularly with a measuring tape. This measurement is called fundal height.

Here’s more on what fundal height means and why it’s an important part of your pregnancy checkups.

What is fundal height?

Fundal height is a vertical (up and down) measurement of your belly. It’s the distance from the pubic bone to the top of your womb (uterus).

Your doctor might also call it the symphysis-fundal height (SFH). Symphysis is the scientific name for bones that are joined together, like in the pelvis.

How is fundal height measured?

Fundal height is always measured in centimeters. To begin, you’ll lay flat on your back on the exam table, just like you’re getting an ultrasound scan.

Your doctor will use a flexible measuring tape to measure the distance from your pelvis area to the top of your uterus. This is about where your belly slopes downwards after going over the highest point of your bump.

Around 24 weeks of pregnancy, the fundal height usually matches the number of weeks you’ve been pregnant. This quick measurement is not just a really good party trick —measuring the fundal height can help tell a few important things about your pregnancy:

Your doctor will have a better estimate how far along you are in the pregnancy (gestational age).

Your doctor can chart fundal height over time to make sure you’re gaining weight and your baby is growing consistently.

Fundal height helps to show how large your baby is (fetal growth) because your bun in the oven is making that belly bump after all!

So if your fundal distance is about 26 centimeters (plus or minus 2 centimeters), you are probably around week 26 of your pregnancy. Of course the fundal height can’t give an exact number of weeks or show the exact size of your baby, but it’s a good estimate.

Measuring the fundal height is especially important in places where there isn’t an ultrasound machine available or if you’re at a checkup at your doctor’s office between ultrasound scan appointments.

The fundal height is used by doctors around the world to help check both mama’s pregnancy health and baby’s growth easily and quickly and without needing any expensive, high-tech equipment.

The fundal height is so important that researchers made an international formulaTrusted Source to help better estimate pregnancy weeks and baby size with this measurement.

The formula takes into account that measuring a pregnant person’s stomach won’t always be accurate, and some mothers-to-be might show more or have a bigger belly than others.

What if my fundal height is too large?

If you’re in week 25 of your pregnancy but your fundal height measurement estimates that you’re in week 28 or 29, don’t worry. There are several reasons why this might happen:

You may have been pregnant earlier than you or your doctor calculated according to your missed period cycle or first ultrasound.

Your baby might be bigger than average.

Your body shape or type might just mean that your stomach is sticking out a bit more.

You might have a full bladder or really need a bowel movement. Yes, both these things can sometimes make your stomach stick out about 3 centimeters higher!

If your fundal height is too long, your doctor will double-check the measurement and may also give you an ultrasound scan. Some babies are just longer or bigger than average.

If your baby is larger than other babies at that stage in pregnancy, it might be due to:

Genetics: You, your partner, or both of you may have tall or large genes in your family that are passed down to your baby.

Weight gain: If you’ve gained excess weight during your pregnancy or before pregnancy, your baby may gain more weight too.

Diabetes: If you have gestational diabetes or another kind of diabetes, your baby might be larger than usual.

What if my fundal height is too small?

Sometimes fundal height is shorter than it should be and doesn’t match up with how far along your pregnancy is. There are several reasons why this might happen:

Your pregnancy might have happened later than you or your doctor estimated. For example, you might estimate that you’re in week 28 of your pregnancy, but you’re actually in week 26 or 27.

Your baby might be smaller than normal.

Your body shape or type might just mean that your belly doesn’t show as much.

Your doctor may be more concerned if your baby is smaller than normal or is not gaining weight. A lack of weight gain in utero may lead to low birth weight.

Causes of small babies in the womb include:

Genetics: You, your partner, or both of you may have shorter or small genes in the family.

Genetic conditions: Certain chromosomal conditions can cause smaller babies early on in the pregnancy.

Nutrition: Your baby may not be getting as much oxygen, blood flow, and nutrients as they should be.

Uterine issues: A problem with the placenta might be limiting how much blood and oxygen your baby is getting.

Mama’s nutrition: If you aren’t taking in adequate healthy foods, or have a body weight of under 100 pounds, baby may not grow as quickly as hoped either.

Alcohol and drugs: Alcohol, cigarette smoking, or drug use can all affect your baby’s growth and development.

Mama’s health: Your health matters for your baby’s health and weight gain. A number of conditions that you might have can affect your baby’s health and growth. These include:

high blood pressure

anemia

infections

diabetes

kidney disease

lung disease

heart disease

Takeaway

Checking your fundal height is just one way that your healthcare provider can check your pregnancy health and your baby’s growth and development.

It’s not always accurate, but along with ultrasound scans and other tests, measuring the fundal height can help keep your pregnancy and baby healthy.

Source: psychologytoday.com

When it comes to dating, education, and earnings, is being tall more of an advantage, or is being short more of a liability?

1. Women prefer to date taller men; tall men attract more desirable partners. On average, women have a strong preference for tall men. In fact, women care more about dating taller men than men care about dating shorter women.

A study on women and men’s height preferences found that women are most satisfied when their partner was 8 inches (21cm) taller. Men are most satisfied when they are 3 inches (8cm) taller than their partner. Another study found that among men, 13.5 percent prefer to date only women shorter than them. But among women, about half (48.9 percent) preferred to date only men taller than them.

Relatedly, a study about height and human mate choice found that, on average, the shortest man a woman would date is 5 feet 9 inches tall. And the shortest woman a man would date is 5 feet 1 inch tall. In the same study, researchers found that 23% of men and 4% of women would accept a relationship where the woman was taller.

Finally, researchers have found that women married to taller men report being in better health, have lower BMIs, more education, and higher incomes compared to women married to shorter men.

2. People view short women and men as less attractive and less successful. In a paper titled, Height Stereotypes of Women and Men: The Liabilities of Shortness for Both Sexes, researchers investigated stereotypes about height. Researchers asked a group of participants to imagine a woman who was either “short” (4 feet 10 inches), “average” (5 feet 4 inches), or “tall” (5 feet 10 inches). Next, participants rated the women on various characteristics.

Participants rated both tall and average height women as more attractive and more successful than short women. But there was no difference in the ratings between tall and average height women. Participants also rated men described as “short” (5 feet 4 inches), “average” (5 feet 10 inches) and “tall” (6 feet 4 inches).

Participants viewed short men as less socially attractive, less successful, less physically attractive, less well-adjusted, and less masculine than both average and tall men. Average and tall men did not differ on those characteristics. But participants viewed tall men as more athletic than average (and short) men. The researchers state that “shortness is more of a liability than tallness is an asset.”

3. Tall people make more money. Economists call this the “height premium.” More height is associated with higher earnings. One study found that for both men and women, a 1-inch increase in height is associated with a 1.4–2.9 percent increase in weekly earnings.

Another study found that each inch of height is associated with earning nearly $800 more per year. This suggests that men who are 6 feet tall earn, on average, about $160,000 more over a 30-year career compared with men who are 5 feet 5 inches tall.

4. Tall people are more educated. This is likely one reason why taller people, on average, earn more. In fact, some researchers attribute the height premium to taller people obtaining more education. As a result, they enter higher-paying positions.

In the U.S., men in white-collar jobs are about one inch taller than men in blue-collar jobs. In the UK, the situation is similar: men in white-collar jobs are 0.6 inches taller, on average, than men in blue-collar jobs.

And it’s not just men. Women in professional and managerial positions are about one inch taller than women in manual positions. Interestingly, researchers have found education differences related to height even within families.

A study of 950,000 Swedish men found that among pairs of brothers, the taller brother was more likely to obtain a higher education. Men taller than 6 feet 3 inches (194 cm) were 2 to 3 times more likely to obtain a higher education compared to men shorter than 5 feet 4 inches (165 cm). The same study also controlled for year of birth, socioeconomic status, shared family factors, and cognitive ability. They still found a significant positive correlation between height and education.

5. Short men report being less healthy. A team of researchers collected data from 165,606 people in the U.S., including self-reported health. The scale contained five categories (“Poor”, “Fair”, “Good”, “Very good”, and “Excellent”). Results revealed that shorter men reported worse health than taller men. Furthermore, they also found that shorter men married women who reported worse health than women married to taller men.

As the researchers put it, “Short men were less educated, less healthy, had a higher BMI, and lower household income than taller men … women of a given height who were paired with shorter partners also tended to be less healthy, less educated, and with a higher BMI than women of the same height who were paired with taller partners.”

Bhubaneswar: How tall or short you are may lead to various complexities. A short person on most occasions is ignored while another with height attracts instant attention. To grow tall, some resort to medicines while some others try natural therapy.

However, before doing anything, one must realise that height is related to genes. Then comes on the quality of diet one is having while growing up. If one is has poor diet, the growth is naturally curbed.

Our height is controlled by a hormone called the Human Growth Hormone (HGH). This is secreted by the pituitary gland. Hence eating food which can act as a catalyst in the production of this hormone is important. But then there cannot be any guarantee on offer, but still some variants of food can be tried to increase the height.

Milk, ice cream, yogurt, cream and paneer are dairy items that contain calcium and ‘Vitamin D’. Deficiency of these nutrients can spike growth. So from a young age, people should have as much as they can items loaded with calcium and ‘Vitamin D’.

Eggs and chicken contain various types of vitamins and nutrients that are essential in the growth process. Most importantly eggs and chicken have B12 which is very important for growth. So a person should have at least two eggs on a daily basis and chicken at least six times a week to grow tall.

Soybeans are powerhouses of protein and it is essential one should start having it from a very young age as it will enhance growth. So eat as much of soybean products as it will help in increasing the power of tissues and bones which in turn will help one gain in height. Doctors have suggested that one should have 75 grams of soybeans everyday for desired results.

Fruits and vegetables we have on a daily basis. But most of the time we either boil or cook vegetables and that leads to the decrease in nutrient content in them. One should on a daily basis have fruits and vegetables raw as they will increase the vitamin, protein and potassium content in the body.

Ashwagandha which is also known as Indian ginseng is one of the best foods that can assist in increasing height. One can add it with milk and have it.

Boys with constitutional delay of growth and puberty display hallmark changes in height and body weight during the first 5 years of life that distinguish the condition from other growth disorders, such as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, according to findings published in Clinical Endocrinology.

Thomas Reinehr
“Constitutional delay of growth and puberty (CDGP) is characterized by height and weight deflection during the first 2 years of life,” Thomas Reinehr, MD, head of the department of pediatric endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition medicine at the Vestische Children and Youth Clinic, University of Witten, Germany, told Endocrine Today. “At adult age, boys with CDGP have a near-target height and a normal weight status. In contrast, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is characterized by an increase of weight and a deflection of height, not during the first years of life, but at pubertal age.”

In a retrospective study, Reinehr and colleagues analyzed longitudinal height and weight data in the first 5 years of life in 54 boys with CDGP presenting between 1999 and 2013 at Vestische Children’s and Adolescent Hospital, the University of Witten-Herdecke or at the Children’s Hospital at the University of Tubingen (mean age, 14 years), as well as height and weight data from eight boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (mean age, 14 years).

In boys with CDGP, the researchers observed that height-standard deviation scores (SDS) decreased (mean change, –0.94; P < .001) between birth and age 2 years, as did BMI-SDS (mean change, –0.38; P < 0.001) during the same period. From age 2 to 5 years, boys with CDGP did not experience changes in height-SDS or BMI-SDS; however, between pubertal and adult age, height-SDS increased (mean change, 1.49; P < .001), as did BMI-SDS (mean change, 0.91; P < .001), according to researchers.

In contrast, among boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, height-SDS and BMI-SDS did not change in the first 5 years of life, the researchers wrote. From age 5 years to puberty, height-SDS decreased (mean change, –1.39; P = .018); however, there were no changes observed in BMI-SDS. At pubertal age, BMI-SDS was higher in boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism compared with boys with CDGP (P = .001).

“These different patterns of growth and weight are helpful to distinguish CDGP from hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and other diseases with growth disturbances, such as growth hormone deficiency, probably helping to avoid unnecessary test and procedures,” Reinehr said. “Comparing growth in the first years of life of children with other diseases leading to short stature, such as growth hormone deficiency, to the growth patterns of constitutional delay of growth and puberty, will help us to decide which patients need growth hormone stimulation testing.” – by Regina Schaffer

Source:sify.com

The most experimental phase of life where one grows every second be it physically, emotionally, and in every sector is the Teenage. This phase of teenage is a slightly vulnerable age too, where there is a lot to explore and a lot of self-doubts, and physical hindrance occurs as it is this time that the body reacts to hormonal changes.

Here are a few tips that you should follow for your Body during teenage:

Taking care of your health- While teenagers are infamous for their love of junk food, it is imperative that they eat the right diet. Maintaining the proper calorie content is vital for proper growth, both health wise as well as height wise. Eating too many calories can lead to obesity and associated complications while eating too little can leave teens lacking energy and facing other health obstacles. A healthy diet for adolescents should incorporate farm-fresh fruits and greens as a staple diet. For optimal nourishment, youth should strive for at least 2 servings of seasonal food every day. Moreover, diversity is essential for fruits and vegetables. A comprehensive way to learn is to eat a large variety of colours.

Essential vitamins

When it gets to minerals and vitamins, calcium is one of the most critical elements of a healthful diet for teenagers. During the adolescent years, bones stop building and arrive their final grown-up form. Calcium helps firm, solid, strong bones that are protected from fractures and breaks. In addition to getting calcium from dairy, this essential nutrient can also be located in nuts like almonds as well as fresh deep green vegetables like spinach. Usually, 2 to 3 meals every day of these calcium enrich foods should be incorporated in a teenager’s nutrition. Iron is also essential to teens in accession to calcium. The best origins of iron are dried fruit like dates, red meat, and certainly beans. Some excellent options combine citrus fruits, which are packed with Vitamin C are lemons and oranges.

Fat is important

While majority believe fats are dangerous, a healthy diet for teenagers requires some fats as a portion of their nutrition. Nevertheless, not every lipid is formed alike. Teens should shun unhealthy saturated fat and trans-fats. Alternatively, they should go for the wholesome fats obtained in fishes and nuts. These fats support individual brain capacity and improve bones and ligaments making them strong.

Concentrating on proteins

Also when observing a healthy diet for teenagers, it is necessary for teens to get sufficient protein, particularly with boys, who may want to grow more muscles. The competent approach to get protein is for teenagers to try periodically two portions of soy products, eggs, nuts, or high-protein dairy each day and meat. Teenagers also require a few servings of complex carbohydrates each day. Nevertheless, numerous teens truly eat too many carbs. A portion can be as little as 4 slices of bread or half a cup of cooked rice.

Routine exercise is mandatory

Proper stretching exercise helps to increase your height. In fact, the best possible ways to increase your height is through the right kind of exercise. Scientific researchers have confirmed that the body generates more HGH after a body does dynamic exercises such as stretching activities. The greater levels of HGH obliquely helps to increase the discs between the vertebrae of your spinal shaft and the cartilage at the tips of your long bones like that of the thigh. Besides inciting the body to generate more HGH, stretching activities helps to increase height by rectifying the arrangement of your spinal shaft and stretching it to its optimal range. This too transpires in a few added lengths to make you taller.

Here are some Health Tips, that will provide you with the best guidance. To find health tips now you do not have to go anywhere else. There are numerous articles which give a scientific insight on how to be healthy and incorporate diets. Findhealthtips is indeed a great platform setup with the vision of providing right in-depth health information in lucid language that can be followed by all.
