A Houston nurse technician, Cynthia Anne, underwent multiple cosmetic procedures to look like Kamala Harris.

In the words of B. Scott, say what now?! A Houston woman underwent eight cosmetic procedures to look like Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Cynthia Anne, a front line healthcare worker, made headlines last week after cosmetic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose posted a series of images, on social media, of Anne’s transformation.

According to the posts, the nurse technician underwent a “mommy makeover,” which included: breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, a tummy tuck, abdominal plasty, and liposuction. She also had an eyelid lift, botox, fillers and injectable treatments all to look like Harris.

Anne’s interesting case was featured on Inside Edition in a segment titled “Kamala Makeover.” “I know I won’t look exactly like her, but I’m inspired by her look,” said Anne in the viral feature. “She’s a trendsetter for a lot of women especially women of color.”

Despite hitting the gym to achieve the Kamala look the natural way, Anne said she just can’t achieve her desired results that way.

“She has a nice flat stomach,” she explained. “You can tell she’s very toned by her legs. She doesn’t have any excess fat. Look at her eyes, oh my goodness, I would love to have those eyes. Then her nose is just nice and perfect.”

After going under the knife for 12 hours and what we imagine to be an intense recovery period, she revealed her new frame and face to family in friends for cameras to see.

“I feel beautiful,” Anne revealed. “I got the look I always wanted.” Well more power to ya sis. Watch the full clip, below:

Some adverse reactions to cosmetic procedures occur more often in patients with darker skin types. Patients should be counseled on appropriate cosmetic procedures for their skin type, according to Cheryl M. Burgess, M.D., at the Skin of Color Update virtual meeting.

Whether or not dermatologists perform cosmetic procedures, it is important that they understand the spectrum of adverse reactions that can occur in patients with skin of color because they may see patients seeking care because of a com- plication, said Cheryl M. Burgess, M.D., at the Skin of Color Update virtual meeting. “With the advent of medical spas and the cross-over of various specialists into cosmetic procedures, I have seen an upsurge in the number of patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, and VI who come to me because they experienced an adverse event following a treatment involving a laser or light-based device, filler or neuromodulator injection, or chemical peel,” says Dr. Burgess, founder and president, Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, Washington, D.C.

She described the types of reactions that are seen most often in skin of color and offered recommendations for minimizing risks and achieving patient satisfaction. Summarizing her top tips, Dr. Burgess says, “Careful patient selection is important for achieving the desired out- come with any cosmetic procedure, and thorough counseling should be provided at consultation on procedures that are appropriate for the individual’s skin type. Performing a test spot may be useful to determine potential adverse events with lasers and chemical peels, and laser parameters may need to be tweaked for increased safety.”

She emphasizes that it is best to start conservatively and recognize that achieving the desired outcome may require multiple sessions.

Laser and light systems

First and second-degree burns are among the most common complications seen in skin of color patients who undergo cosmetic procedures involving a laser, and they are particularly a problem with the use of intense pulsed light devices. The burns are easily recognized by their rectangular shape, Dr. Burgess says.

Postinflammatory hypopigmentation can occur after hair removal using the short pulse 1064-nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser whereas hyperpigmentation was more common in the past when the procedure was performed with the 532-nm systems.

“The longer 1064-nm wavelength avoids hypopigmentary changes since it bypasses the melanin in the epidermis. Its absorption deeper in the hair leads to thermal destruction of the follicle, which makes the longer wave Nd:YAG laser ideal for hair removal in skin of color,” Dr. Burgess says.

Whenever performing a laser procedure in a new patient with skin of color, however, Dr. Burgess advises performing a test spot and using a lower fluence.

“Manufacturer-recommended parameters are based on clinical trials that enrolled mostly patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I-III and some patients with skin type IV, but rarely any- one with darker skin,” she says. “When patients understand the test is being done for their safety, they are willing to accept the delay.”

Filler reactions

Safety data from premarketing clinical trials with various fillers did not show any increased risk of pigmentary changes or hypertrophic or keloidal scarring in patients with skin of color, although the eligibility criteria for these studies excluded patients with a history of keloids. As in patients with lighter skin types, bruising is the most common adverse event associated with filler injections in skin of color. Hyperpigmentation can also occur, particularly with the use of a serial puncture technique and faster injections times.

“Filler injections in skin of color patients are best done slowly using a linear threading technique,” Dr. Burgess says.

Neuromodulator injections

Dr. Burgess notes that Asian patients, particularly, request treatment for crow’s feet and glabellar frown lines. Injections into the forehead and periocular region in these patients requires care to avoid the development of eyebrow or eyelid ptosis that will decrease the palpebral aperture.

“As people age and the laxity of the forehead and upper eyelid skin becomes more

apparent, a reduced dose or avoidance of botulinumtoxinA injections is recommended to avoid eyebrow ptosis,” Dr. Burgess says. Chemical peels

Superficial chemical peels using salicylic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, or glycolic acid can be performed safely in skin of color. The use of medium and deep peeling agents, however, risks dyschromia from rapid skin exfoliation that leads to a deeper exfoliation to the lower levels of the epidermis and melanocytes with subsequent inflammation and ultimately hyperpigmentation.

Dr. Burgess says that neutralization of the acid is a technique used in medical spas to minimize risk in skin of color. However, a neutral pH is no longer an acid strength to perform chemoexfoliation.

“Chemical peels at lower pH require observation of the skin’s reaction and erythema. The end point for a peel isn’t always ‘until it frosts’ in skin of color,” Dr. Burgess says

Showing support. 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? alum Larissa Dos Santos Lima expressed her appreciation for boyfriend Eric Nichols before undergoing her latest cosmetic procedure at Smith Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Thank you for [being] here,” Larissa, 34, gushed alongside a selfie with her beau on Thursday, October 29. Eric remained by her side for as long as he could before she had Cellfina done, which “treats the primary structural cause of cellulite.”

Larissa explained more about the process on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Cellfina is a nonsurgical treatment for reducing the appearance of cellulite dimples.” The former TLC personality continued, “It’s the only FDA-cleared minimally invasive procedure that has been clinically proven to be effective for cellulite reduction on the thighs and butt for up to three years.”

After the treatment was completed, the Brazil native shared an update with her followers to confirm she was “good” and already working toward her recovery.

Although she and Eric now live in Colorado, the couple returned to Sin City to go to the same place she had her other plastic surgery procedures done. Larissa previously had a nose job and a boob job in February, and liposuction, a tummy tuck and a fat transfer in August, all of which were done by Dr. Lane Smith.

“The reason that I did it because as you know, I have a family in Brazil, I have a boyfriend who is 28 years old and I am exposed daily on social media,” Larissa shared with Life & Style after unveiling her results in early September.

“People have haters, but the lovers, they ask you what procedures you use, what clothes that [you have] on. So, I want to look good for myself and to make money to send to Brazil and to make a living here,” the reality star further explained.

Larissa announced she was fired from TLC on September 26 because of her affiliation with CamSoda. The season 5 alum confirmed she would still be sharing life updates on social media in the wake of her exit and “continue producing content for [her] official channels on Instagram, OnlyFans and YouTube.”

In a follow-up interview, Larissa revealed she is “happy” to be paving her own path and has really been looking forward to her “new beginning.”

A chemical peel is a restorative cosmetic procedure that may help reduce the signs of aging on your face.

During a chemical peel, a dermatologist will apply a chemical solution to your skin. This solution peels away damaged skin cells, allowing healthy skin to grow in their place.

This may help improve common skin concerns, such as:

wrinkles

hyperpigmentation

acne

uneven skin texture

However, the exact results will depend on many factors, including the severity of your skin issues and the type of peel you receive.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the different types of chemical peels, their benefits, and what to expect during recovery.

What to know about different types of chemical peels

Your dermatologist can work with you to help determine whether a light, medium, or deep chemical peel is best for your skin and the concerns you’re looking to treat.

Light chemical peel

A light chemical peel, or superficial peel, will lightly exfoliate your skin. It only removes the epidermis, which is your topmost skin layer.

A light chemical peel is usually used for:

fine wrinkles

uneven skin tone

acne

dry skin

This treatment uses mild chemical agents, so it’s usually safe to get light chemical peels every 2 to 5 weeks.

Medium chemical peel

A medium chemical peel is slightly stronger than a light peel. It removes your epidermis plus the top layer of your dermis, which lies beneath the epidermis.

A medium peel is typically used for:

wrinkles

uneven skin tone

acne scars

You may need several treatments to get the results you want.

Deep chemical peel

A deep chemical peel removes your epidermis, along with the upper and middle layer of your dermis. It uses very strong chemicals, so you may need a local anesthetic before the procedure. This will help prevent pain and discomfort.

A deep chemical peel is best suited for:

deeper wrinkles

deeper scars

precancerous skin patches

The effects of this peel can last for 10 years, so it’s done only once. You won’t need repeated treatments.

What are the benefits?

Chemical peels can improve many skin issues. Let’s look at some of the most common ones that chemical peels may help treat.

Acne

Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition. It’s often treated with topical products or oral medication, but chemical peels may also help.

The procedure can:

break down comedones (plugged hair follicles)

decrease oil production

kill bacteria

reduce inflammation

increase absorption of topical treatments

Light and medium chemical peels are usually used to improve acne.

Acne scars

As acne heals, the skin creates new collagen fibers in an attempt to repair lesions that have been created by inflamed skin.

The production of new collagen fibers can create hypertrophic scars, which are bumpy and raised, or atrophic scars, which create depressions in your skin.

A chemical peel can help by exfoliating the top skin layer, which removes excess collagen. Medium chemical peels are typically recommended for acne scars.

Rosacea

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition that causes redness, swelling, and red bumps. If it also causes acne-like breakouts, it’s known as acne rosacea.

Sometimes, a chemical peel can help relieve these symptoms. It’s typically recommended for mild or moderate rosacea.

Aging skin

Chemical peels may reduce signs of aging, including:

wrinkles

fine lines

age spots

uneven skin tone

roughness

dryness

liver spots

When skin grows back after a chemical peel, it triggers the production of collagen and elastin. This can help make your skin supple and strong, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

The new skin that grows back is also smoother, which helps decrease roughness and dryness.

Chemical peels aren’t recommended for removing deep wrinkles, however. It also won’t tighten sagging skin.

Hyperpigmentation

In addition to acne scars and age spots, chemical peels can improve other forms of hyperpigmentation, such as:

uneven skin tone

melasma

freckles

surgical scars

scars due to injury

discoloration due to sun damage

Dullness

If you have a dull complexion, you may benefit from chemical peels.

The treatment allows new skin to resurface, which may help your complexion look brighter and healthier.

Precancerous growths

Actinic keratoses are rough skin patches caused by years of sun exposure. They’re known as precancerous growths, since they can potentially turn into skin cancer.

A deep chemical peel can remove these growths and decrease your risk of skin cancer.

As your skin heals, you may need to apply a protective ointment. You’ll also need to wear sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun.

The recovery process is different for each type of peel. Let’s take a closer look at what recovery may be like for the different chemical peels.

Light chemical peel

After a light chemical peel, you may experience mild irritation and dryness. You can typically wear makeup the following day and resume your normal skin care activities, like cleansing and moisturizing .

It will most likely take between 1 to 7 days for your skin to fully heal.

Medium chemical peel

The most common side effects of a medium chemical peel include:

swelling

redness

stinging

In most cases, you can safely wear makeup within 5 to 7 days.

The recovery process typically lasts 7 to 14 days. You may have some redness for several months, though.

Deep chemical peel

The most common side effects of a deep chemical peel include:

crusting

swelling

severe redness

The swelling can last for 14 days, while the redness may last for 3 months.

It may take up to 14 days for your skin to grow back. During this time, you’ll need to wear a surgical dressing and take medication for the pain.

You can typically start wearing makeup after 14 days.

Although rare, deep chemical peels can be associated with more severe side effects and complications, including:

infection

bruising

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that removes the top layer of your skin. This can help minimize wrinkles, dullness, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. It may also help skin disorders like acne and rosacea.

However, a chemical peel can’t treat deep wrinkles and scarring. It also won’t tighten loose skin or reverse sun damage. To determine whether a chemical peel is right for you, be sure to talk with your healthcare provider.

Source: sciencetimes.com

Endometriosis is a disorder that causes pain in the pelvic area of women. This is a condition where endometrial tissue, which normally lines the inside of the uterus, grows outside the uterus, most commonly affecting the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the tissue lining the pelvic region. Sometimes, but not very commonly, the endometrial tissue may even spread beyond a woman’s pelvic organs. Now as the endometrial tissue would normally be stripped off the uterine lining during menstruation, it would do the same with the other organs affected with endometriosis, causing additional bleeding with each menstrual cycle. But because this stripped off tissues are outside the uterus, there is no exit point for them and they become trapped in the body, causing irritation and possibly other complications.

While Botox is more commonly known for helping make the skin smoother and eliminate wrinkles, a recent study says that the severe pain caused by endometriosis may be relieved for months using Botox injections.

In the study, 13 women of ages 21 to 51 with endometriosis for at least two years agreed to have Botox injected into their pelvic floor, specifically in the areas where muscle spasms were observed. These participants have had surgery and hormone treatments in the past to try to address their condition but to minimum success, their pain persisted. All of them also had muscle spasms in their pelvic floor, which supports the pelvic organs.

Out of the 13 women in the study, eight of them reported that they have experienced moderate to severe disability when it comes to how the pain affects their daily activities from simple walking and standing to personal care and sex life. After four to eight weeks of treatment, all of the 13 women reported that the pain was observably reduced; 11 of them rated the pain after the treatment as mild or completely gone, as the researchers reported in Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine. In seven of these 13 women, the relief lasted from 5 to 11 months, asking them a year after the treatment. Out of the eight who said that the pain interfered with their daily lives, six have reported that their disability was reduced after the injection.

Barbara Karp, a neurologist at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, says that the women in the study had been able to benefit beyond the relief of pain. Some of them were even able to resume having sex without feeling pain. Andrea Rapkin, an obstetrician, and gynecologist at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine not involved in the research said that Botox may be a promising tool for the treatment of endometriosis, but she also noted that the treatment is expensive and that the study size was very small. She noted that larger studies, where Botox is compared with placebo, need to be done in order to be able to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the botulinum toxin treatment.

Source: digitaljournal.com

Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery, based in Mansfield, Texas, has announced that they have recently published a blog post on how much a breast lift will cost. The article is designed to answer the basic questions in the minds of people who are considering a breast lift or mastopexy, particularly with regards to the expenses that they have to shoulder for undergoing the procedure.

The cosmetic surgery center was founded in 2008 and serves clients living near Arlington, Mansfield, Burleson, Midlothian, Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding cities of North Central Texas. Since its establishment, Dr. Michael L. Thornton has been serving as its surgical director. Dr. Thornton is a double board certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

According to Dr. Thornton, mastopexy is a mammoplasty procedure that is designed to raise sagging breasts through the modification of the size, contour, and elevation of the breasts. The blog post explains that the breast lift cost will be somewhere between $4000 to $5000. The cosmetic surgeon fees will vary depending on how complex the procedure that is required and on whether the client wants a saline or silicone breast augmentation at the same time.

Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reveal that the average cost of surgeon fees for a mastopexy is $4816. However, in addition to the surgeon fees, there will also be the operating room fees and/or general anesthesia-related fees that will add several more thousand dollars. It should also be noted that private health insurance plans do not cover the cost of a breast lift because it is not considered to be medically necessary.

Meanwhile, if the client wants to add breast augmentation to the breast lift, this will add several thousands of dollars, depending on whether a saline or silicone gel breast implant will be used. Silicone gel implants are more expensive because of the manufacturing process. Many patients decide to have the breast lift and breast augmentation simultaneously in order to get the desired effect in just a single stage operation. The typical cost of a breast lift plus breast augmentation ranges from $6500 to $8500.

Aside from the actual costs of the procedure, there will also be some costs in terms of missed work during the recovery. Dr. Thornton has observed that most patients were able to get back to their normal activity in one or two weeks. After the mastopexy procedure, the patient will recover at the surgery center for several hours until it is safe to send her home with an appropriate caregiver. The patient will be provided with post-operative instructions, muscle relaxation medication, narcotic pain medication, nausea medication, and antibiotics. Drains are typically not required and all stitches are done under the skin so there will be no need for stitch removal at a later date. Patients may take a shower the next morning because the incisions are covered with waterproof surgical blue and paper tape.

Meanwhile, aside from the breast lift and breast augmentation procedures, Dr. Thornton also provides breast reduction surgery, breast implant revision, and male breast reduction. Aside from breast cosmetic procedures, Dr. Thornton also offers facial plastic surgery procedures, body contouring surgery procedures, and male cosmetic surgery procedures.

Facial plastic surgery procedures include the face and neck lift; blepharoplasty or eyelid lift; brow lift; facial fat transfer; permalip implant; ThermiTight face; and earlobe repair. Body countouring plastic surgery procedures include the Brazilian butt lift; mommy makeover; tummy tuck; mini tummy tuck; VASER lipo; liposuction; laser lipo; brachioplasty or upper arm liposuction; after weight loss procedures; and laparoscopic hernia repair and open hernia.

Male cosmetic surgery procedures include platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatments for hair restoration; blepharoplasty for men; male face and neck lift; male Botox® and Xeomin® injections; VASER lipo for men; after weight loss procedures; and male hernia repair.

Source: newswire.ne

Newswire.net — June 14, 2019) — Liposuction surgery, also commonly referred to as lipo, is a type of cosmetic surgery aimed at breaking up and sucking fat from the body. It’s often used in the abdomen, chin, neck, calves, back, thighs, upper and backs of the arms, and buttocks. The fat is removed by vacuum suction through a cannula (hollow instrument). So, what is liposuction surgery? Here are some of the facts, benefits and risks of the procedure.

What is Liposuction Surgery?

So, what is liposuction surgery? Liposuction is where fat is removed by vacuum suction through a cannula (hollow instrument).

What Is Liposuction?

People undergoing liposuction surgery will usually
have a stable body weight but would like to get rid of undesirable
body-fat deposits in specific body parts. It is neither a treatment for
obesity nor an overall weight loss strategy. It’s mainly aesthetic but
doesn’t remove any dimples, stretch marks or cellulite.

Only a limited amount of fat can be removed and the procedure alters the shape of the body as fat cells are permanently removed. Inherent risks of this plastic surgery procedure include scarring, numbness and infection.

Uses

Liposuction is primarily for aesthetic purposes and
most people would probably achieve the same or even better results by
adopting a healthy lifestyle. The procedure is normally advised to treat
areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is, therefore,
crucial to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of liposuction with your
doctor before deciding whether to go ahead with the surgery. The
procedure works best for people with good skin tone and elasticity.
People with blood flow or circulation problems such as diabetes,
coronary artery disease or a weakened immune system shouldn’t undergo
liposuction.

Benefits

Liposuction is normally performed for cosmetic reasons but it is sometimes used to treat conditions such as:

Lymphedema (swelling caused by the excess collection of lymph in tissues)

Excess weight loss after obesity

Lipomas (benign, fatty tumors)

Lipodystrophy syndrome (fat is lost in one part of the body and accumulated in another)

Gynecomastia (accumulation of fat under a man’s breasts)

The Operation

Patients are required to undergo several health checks before they’re declared fit for surgery.

Risks

Any major surgery carries a risk of infection, bleeding or an adverse reaction to anesthesia. The risk of complications is usually associated with how large the procedure is, as well as the specific training and skills of the surgeon.

Results

The results of liposuction are rarely clear until the
inflammation goes down. In some cases, inflammation may take up to
several months before going down completely. Most of the swelling will
settle after about a month, and the area where the fat was removed
should appear less bulky.

Maintaining your weight will usually yield permanent
results while gaining weight after the procedure may alter the
distribution of fat in the body.

Bottom Line

So, what is liposuction surgery? In short, it refers to the removal of fat from specific areas of the body using a suction technique. For the best results, you need to consider carefully the benefits and drawbacks beforehand, choose a qualified and experienced surgeon, know what to expect and contact the practice to discuss the details carefully with your surgeon.

Based in Newport Beach, California, The Rhinoplasty Center is pleased to invite members of the public to avail themselves of the clinic’s top-tier plastic surgery services. The center’s renowned lead surgeon, Dr. Aaron Kosins, has already treated many local patients who describe their results as both outstanding and extremely satisfactory

Dr. Kosins has many years of experience in the field, having performed and studied over 6,000 procedures. Until the year 2016, he was under the tutelage of Dr. Rollin Daniel, who was an acclaimed and well known surgeon in the community, but retired to leave the Rhinoplasty Center in the care of Dr. Kosins. Having taken over the prestigious leadership role at the clinic, he is said to be an expert at the nasal form, having perfected the art of rhinoplasty and becoming one of the best surgeons in Newport Beach for this specialty.

Under the guidance of Dr. Kosins, The Rhinoplasty Center has continued to provide outstanding rhinoplasty results to patients from around the world. Many allude to his dedication and skills, commenting that he has a deep understanding and respect for natural beauty. The doctor has chosen to dedicate his plastic surgery skills to meet all his patients’ individual desires for nose enhancement.

Thanks to Dr. Kosins’ remarkable efforts, The Rhinoplasty Center has become the go-to destination for local, national, and international patients seeking rhinoplasty. The center is known for looking after their patient’s convenience and privacy, having carefully designed state of the art premises so they may benefit from a discreet and personalized experience.

Considered one of the best rhinoplasty specialists in the field, Dr. Kosins attributes his expertise to the wealth of experience both he and his staff are able to gain while working at the clinic. He explains that, “The average plastic surgeon in the United States performs less than a half dozen nasal surgeries per year. At The Rhinoplasty Center, we study and perform hundreds of operations every year on patients from all over the world. This allows us to accumulate an immense amount of experience, being able to study and prepare for any unique cases that come to us.”

Notably, fewer than 1% of plastic surgeons specialize in rhinoplasty. The Rhinoplasty Center firmly believes that being a specialist does not only mean dedicating one’s practice to excellence in a particular operation but also being a pioneer, teacher, and continuous student of nasal surgery. This is exactly the approach that Dr. Kosins takes to rhinoplasty, as he has traveled nationally and internationally to learn new techniques and procedures from other cultures, in addition to lecturing them on rhinoplasty on a monthly basis.

Furthermore, many new surgery techniques like Piezosurgery are only done in the United States by Dr. Kosins at The Rhinoplasty Center. This special procedure allows him to perform rhinoplasty without breaking any bones, and is an innovative technique that many surgeons are trying to learn. He has also pioneered in other aspects of rhinoplasty by using principles of skin health, oral medication, and lasers to achieve excellent results with patients who, in the past, could not achieve true definition of their nasal tips.

The rhinoplasty center showcases a few of their many success stories on their website, where patients have shared their experiences, along with reference pictures. One of the most recent stories concerns a 22 year old female who came to the center presenting discomfort with a hump on her nose, as well as a bulbous tip and a very skinny middle third of the nose. She wanted a more refined nose that also did not plunge when she smiled.

Dr. Kosins states that, through surgery, he was able to remove the hump on her nose and correct the plunging tip by rotating it while simultaneously shrinking her nostril. The specialist states that the patient was able to recover quickly, and she was back to full form only three months after her surgery.

The procedures performed at The Rhinoplasty Center include Primary Rhinoplasty, Secondary Rhinoplasty, Ethnic Rhinoplasty, and Persian/Middle Eastern Rhinoplasty. The Rhinoplasty Center invites all those interested in learning more about their cutting edge procedures to visit their website, where further information can be found regarding the innovative techniques performed only at this center.
