‘I had to pay, like everybody else‘: Mama June reveals her weight loss surgeries came out of her own pocket

She‘s undergoing a massive transformation in her new show Mama June: From Not to Hot which has already shown her shedding 150 pounds.

And rather surprisingly, ‘Mama June‘ Shannon has revealed that she had to pay for the gastric sleeve surgery and excess skin removal surgeries herself.

‘I had to pay, just like everybody else,‘ the reality matriarch said on the  Show last week. 

‘[The surgery] was going to happen whether I had them or not.‘ she added, denying that WeTV or the From Not to Hot production company paid for the operations.

‘If you get the skin removal surgery done without anything before, you’re liable to have to spend your money and do it again.‘

June, 37, also had a tummy tuck and breast lift but says that she doesn‘t want any more surgeries.

‘I’m definitely not going to have any more.‘

June did say however that she would be supportive of her daughters if they wanted to have plastic surgery.

When asked whether she would encourage her daughters to do the same, Shannon replied:  ‘If it would make them confident, yes, I would recommend surgery. You have to do your research, definitely, and that’s what got me into the gastric sleeve. That helps you lose as much weight as possible.‘

‘I do encourage them to , but they’re teenagers,‘ the former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star added.

Mama June also confessed that the weight loss was, in part, a byproduct of a revenge diet after she learned that her ex Sugar Bear was getting married.

In the same interview June denied reports that she wore a fat suit to conceal her weight loss during the filming of the show. 

Viewers took to Twitter to accuse her of wearing a fat show to over-emphasize her weight loss, but the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star rebuffed the reports on Friday. 

One Twitter user – among many – wrote: ‘ nice special effects makeup on mama June. She has on a fake double chin and cheeks. It‘s edges are coming up around her mouth. #fake (sic)‘ 

‘Definitely not a fat suit,‘  Mama June said on the radio show, ‘I was fat!‘ 

June is mother to 11-year-old Alana (Honey Boo Boo), Anna, 22, Jessica, 20, and Lauryn ‘Pumpkin‘ Shannon, 17.
