Body contouring and weight loss treatments or procedures are commonly thought of as only for women, but that is farthest from the truth. These treatments and procedures are just as much of a necessity for men too. We caught up with some of the Haute Beauty Experts to learn more about the transformative body procedures for men and get insight into the surgeon’s approach to get the most natural-appearing results.

Male Tummy Tuck

Dr. Kiran Gill, Body Expert, Naples FL

In male Tummy Tuck patients, excess skin is removed from the lower abdomen just as in female patients. What differs in the male is the need for rectus muscle plication. In female patients, I plicate the rectus muscles in over 95% of patients because with pregnancy these muscles spread apart. In Male, there is rarely rectus muscle diastasis that needs to be repaired.

Good candidates for male tummy tucks are usually men that have lost a fair amount of weight, leaving loose skin throughout the abdomen. The scar lies low, just like in females; therefore there is no issue going to the beach or pool in swimwear.

Male Breast Removal Surgery

Dr. Rian Maercks, Breast Expert, Miami/Fort Lauderdale

Gynecomastia is the abnormal growth of breast tissue in males and is multifactorial but can be commonly caused by the use of anabolic steroids. It is important to understand the cause before treating a patient. Depending on the findings, treatments can include liposuction techniques, excision through hidden scars, and complete reconstruction of the male chest, much like a female to male chest surgery.

Keys to the treatment are removing the excess tissue and creating a masculine chest form while hiding scars and using them to augment the result. Sometimes fat grafting is used as well.

We commonly use advanced techniques with liposuction to create a natural-appearing “etched” abdominal area which allows the naturally beautiful muscular contours to show through. This must be done artfully to respect the overall composition and form of the individual patient’s body. It is very important to assess and highlight the underlying anatomical contours so that even if the patient gains or loses weight, the results persist and keep a naturally toned appearance. The patient has minimal recovery and the whole experience is generally pain-free allowing the patient to carry on with regular life and work as if nothing happened.

A Houston nurse technician, Cynthia Anne, underwent multiple cosmetic procedures to look like Kamala Harris.

In the words of B. Scott, say what now?! A Houston woman underwent eight cosmetic procedures to look like Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Cynthia Anne, a front line healthcare worker, made headlines last week after cosmetic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose posted a series of images, on social media, of Anne’s transformation.

According to the posts, the nurse technician underwent a “mommy makeover,” which included: breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, a tummy tuck, abdominal plasty, and liposuction. She also had an eyelid lift, botox, fillers and injectable treatments all to look like Harris.

Anne’s interesting case was featured on Inside Edition in a segment titled “Kamala Makeover.” “I know I won’t look exactly like her, but I’m inspired by her look,” said Anne in the viral feature. “She’s a trendsetter for a lot of women especially women of color.”

Despite hitting the gym to achieve the Kamala look the natural way, Anne said she just can’t achieve her desired results that way.

“She has a nice flat stomach,” she explained. “You can tell she’s very toned by her legs. She doesn’t have any excess fat. Look at her eyes, oh my goodness, I would love to have those eyes. Then her nose is just nice and perfect.”

After going under the knife for 12 hours and what we imagine to be an intense recovery period, she revealed her new frame and face to family in friends for cameras to see.

“I feel beautiful,” Anne revealed. “I got the look I always wanted.” Well more power to ya sis. Watch the full clip, below:

What we’re treating now that we’ve officially reached middle age.

It’s been 30 years since the 90s and we can thank Generation Xers for just about everything cool that is being celebrated by today’s generation. Steve Madden platforms? We started that. Doc Martens? You’re welcome. Brown lip liner? Two words: Kevyn Aucoin.

Now that Generation Xers are all grown up and experiencing a stage of life some refer to as middle age (as if!), we wanted to know which treatments patients aged 40-55 are seeking the most. Here, top plastic surgeons from around the country share what procedures they’re doing the most of on the “My So-Called Life” generation.

Body Work

“In my experience the most popular procedures and treatments being requested by women in the 40 to 55-year-old demographic are: breast augmentations and lifts, tummy tucks and Mommy Makeovers. The main reasons for these specific procedural choices are because this is the age group that contains the most moms who are of an age where if they have had their children and don’t plan any more additions to their families, making breast and body surgery logically sensible. They are young enough and fit enough to still desire physical and sexual attractiveness and an active lifestyle, in general.” —San Diego plastic surgeon

Breasts Reshaping

“The procedure most common in women closer to 40 is breast enhancement. Today, we’re seeing more patients requesting a breast lift or reshaping, with or without an implant, than we were a decade ago. This may have a lot to do with awareness regarding what can be done, along with increased safety and a rather rapid recovery period. These women have completed their child bearing years and for the most part are simply seeking to have their breasts restored as closely as possible to pre-child bearing years.” —Pittsburgh, PA plastic surgeon

Tightening and Filling

“The facial procedures they are receiving focus are fillers as well as Morpheus8 radio-frequency treatments to the lower face and submental area. Fillers, consisting primarily of hyaluronic acid products, directly address areas of volume loss and also have some degree of lifting effect of their own. Morpheus8 treatments help in remodeling fat as well as producing a skin tightening effect, far superior to other non-or minimally invasive tightening procedures of which I am familiar.” —New York plastic surgeon

“Zoom-Lifts”

“In my practice, the most common surgeries women are having facelifts, mini-lifts and eyelid lifts. I am hearing daily, that patients on Zoom calls are seeing things that have been bothering them for many years and now they have the time to recover and still work from home. For many of them, this is an ideal opportunity and we’ve been performing a lot of ‘Zoom-lifts.’” —New York plastic surgeon

Facelifts

“Facelifts usually start in mid- to late-40s, but with the average age being 55 years old. Patients in the last 15 to 20 years have become accustomed to exploring options at a younger age due to the growth of nonsurgical options. The concept of prejuvenation with preventive treatments has become extremely popular, which has opened the door for more invasive procedures in their 40s and 50s.”—Louisville, KY plastic surgeon

Brows and Necks

“Many of my patient have come in and saying, ‘I’m starting to look like my aunt or grandmother.’ They still feel attractive but are starting to see the wear and tear that comes with aging and their genetic patterns. It may be drooping eyebrows or aging on the neck first, so they’ll come in seeking treatments before it progresses. If the neck muscle needs to be tucked back, or the lower eye fat pad needs to be tucked back in, doing a muscle-based surgery is a key so they don’t end up looking stretched. Using lasers and fillers are also good. Younger patients now want to fix the ‘landslide’ early.”— Chicago plastic surgeon

Nip and tuck! The ladies of the Real Housewives franchises have celebrated their plastic surgery procedures over the years — and some have even gone under the knife on camera. We rounded up all the Bravo babes who are open about their fillers, Botox and everything in-between … and, unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of them to choose from.

In December 2019, Life & Style sat down exclusively with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga and Real Housewives of New York star Sonja Morgan to talk about the stigma behind cosmetic surgery.

“I feel like a lot of times when women get work done we’re shamed because you, you know, altered anything or you’re trying to change because a lot of times people think that women get work done for other people or for a man,” Porsha, 39, explained. “In actuality I’m able to celebrate it and I’m sure you guys are too, because I do it for myself.”

The RHOA vet noted that the truth is most women undergo surgery for themselves, not others. “Whatever I have fixed or tweaked or whatever, it was just for me to feel better about myself,” the New Celebrity Apprentice star continued. “I think the biggest thing too is that all of it doesn’t necessarily have to do with like surgery. It’s just the mindset of feeling good and celebrating who I am.”

Longtime RHONY cast member Sonja, 56, completely agreed, adding her personal feelings become part of the decision process. “There was nothing wrong with me before and I feel better, having a little work done,” she explained.

That being said, the Sonja by Sonja Morgan founder explained that less is definitely more when it comes to making changes. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s the trick with having a little work done,” she said. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I mean, you don’t want to go overboard, right? Just a little tweak.”

Scroll through the gallery below to see which of your favorite Real Housewives stars have been open about their plastic surgery over the years!
