Since taking the spotlight as a young child, Marie Osmond’s ravishing beauty has never failed to make headlines. Now, 61, the entertainer still looks youthful, and that has caused many to raise eyebrows.

Apart from her remarkable talent and melodious voice, Marie Osmond is well known for her captivating beauty and impeccable fashion style. Over the years, the singer has never failed to look glammed from head-to-toe, rarely seen without makeup.

While that has been applauded by many, others can’t help but wonder why she scarcely rocks a natural look and if she has had plastic surgery at some point.

The 61-year-old has been on the receiving end of numerous questions from fans, asking if she has had a procedure as she always manages to look years younger than her actual age.

Once during an interview, the “Donny & Marie” star revealed that she began practicing the habit of maintaining a youthful glow in the 1970s.

She disclosed that she often visited a high-end dermatologist who treater her acne. Also, her mother taught her to wash off her makeup every night before going to bed.

A NATURAL BEAUTY

Although Marie is rarely caught without the usual heavy makeup that makes fans drool over her, she knows how to switch things up once in a while and give them a dose of her natural beauty.

This was something she did in March when she shared a video of her bare face as she prepared to have a live chat with fans of “The Talk.”

In the Instagram clip, which has since been deleted, the “Paper Roses” crooner wore her brown locks in loose waves while her glam squad was in sight, getting ready to work wonders.

In the comments section, many of her 281,000 followers praised her for looking so glamorous without makeup. Others, however, picked her looks apart and accused her of going under the knife.

EXPERTS TAKE

According to plastic surgeon experts who spoke to Closer Weekly, there is a high chance that Marie has done some light procedures to her face to maintain a youthful glow.

Dr. Adam Hamway believes that the talented singer has had botox and fillers, alongside undergoing a brow lift and eyelid surgery to look fresh.

Dr. Andrew Miller thinks she had a cheek lift with some filler while Dr. Vartan Mardirossian hints that she also had some light work done on her lips. He added that she had done a nose job too. In all their observations, the doctors agree that Marie hasn’t made any drastic changes to her look, which makes her beauty spectacular.

SEOUL — Cosmax, a cosmetics original development manufacturing company in South Korea, has developed an anti-aging cosmetics material called “Strain CX” using microbiome, the genetic material of all the microbes that live on and inside the human body. Strain CX is a composite of microbes with anti-aging characteristics found in the skin of young women.

In the cosmetics industry, microbiome specifically refers to a group of microbes which are known to improve the conditions of internal organs and skin. Microbiome has received attention as a material for next-generation skincare cosmetics, but most cosmetics products that utilize microbiome research technology have used intestinal lactobacillus or milk lactobacillus.

Cosmax promised to release a new lineup of cosmetics that would enhance the anti-aging capability of products targeting fall and winter seasonal markets.

“While all other companies were focusing on the balance of microbiome and the relationship between aging and microbes, we thought that we should approach the skin,” Cosmax organic materials lab head Lee dong-geol said. “Our research performance is based on finding out exactly what our customers want after meeting with them several times.”

“Because skin microbiological research is much higher in the level of research analysis than intestinal microbial research, I have spent the last five years just making a platform for analysis,” Lee said, adding his team found the correlation between anti-aging microbes and skin aging and divided them.

Strain CX can greatly enhance moisture activity and collagen activation, he said. Cosmax promised to release a new lineup of cosmetics that would enhance the anti-aging capability of products targeting fall and winter seasonal markets.

Strain CX was first adopted by Dr. Jart+, a cosmetics brand, to release a moisturizing essence. The product has become the top-selling merchandise at Olive Young, a health and beauty drug store, this summer. Dr. Jart+ will release a new lineup of cosmetics featuring a more concentrated dose of Strain CX.

“While the moisture biome concentrates on the moisturization capability of cosmetics, a new lineup featuring the concentrated dose of the anti-aging element, which is the core of the Strain CX, will be released as autumn and winter come,” Lee said.

Boys with constitutional delay of growth and puberty display hallmark changes in height and body weight during the first 5 years of life that distinguish the condition from other growth disorders, such as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, according to findings published in Clinical Endocrinology.

Thomas Reinehr
“Constitutional delay of growth and puberty (CDGP) is characterized by height and weight deflection during the first 2 years of life,” Thomas Reinehr, MD, head of the department of pediatric endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition medicine at the Vestische Children and Youth Clinic, University of Witten, Germany, told Endocrine Today. “At adult age, boys with CDGP have a near-target height and a normal weight status. In contrast, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is characterized by an increase of weight and a deflection of height, not during the first years of life, but at pubertal age.”

In a retrospective study, Reinehr and colleagues analyzed longitudinal height and weight data in the first 5 years of life in 54 boys with CDGP presenting between 1999 and 2013 at Vestische Children’s and Adolescent Hospital, the University of Witten-Herdecke or at the Children’s Hospital at the University of Tubingen (mean age, 14 years), as well as height and weight data from eight boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (mean age, 14 years).

In boys with CDGP, the researchers observed that height-standard deviation scores (SDS) decreased (mean change, –0.94; P < .001) between birth and age 2 years, as did BMI-SDS (mean change, –0.38; P < 0.001) during the same period. From age 2 to 5 years, boys with CDGP did not experience changes in height-SDS or BMI-SDS; however, between pubertal and adult age, height-SDS increased (mean change, 1.49; P < .001), as did BMI-SDS (mean change, 0.91; P < .001), according to researchers.

In contrast, among boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, height-SDS and BMI-SDS did not change in the first 5 years of life, the researchers wrote. From age 5 years to puberty, height-SDS decreased (mean change, –1.39; P = .018); however, there were no changes observed in BMI-SDS. At pubertal age, BMI-SDS was higher in boys with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism compared with boys with CDGP (P = .001).

“These different patterns of growth and weight are helpful to distinguish CDGP from hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and other diseases with growth disturbances, such as growth hormone deficiency, probably helping to avoid unnecessary test and procedures,” Reinehr said. “Comparing growth in the first years of life of children with other diseases leading to short stature, such as growth hormone deficiency, to the growth patterns of constitutional delay of growth and puberty, will help us to decide which patients need growth hormone stimulation testing.” – by Regina Schaffer

Anti-aging as commerce is a steadily growing industry. It is estimated that by 2024, the anti-aging business market will be worth $271 billion.

Most people know that products that purport to halt or reverse aging don’t work or only provide minimal aesthetic improvement. However, that doesn’t stop them from seeking out ever more radical procedures.

In 2016, a company called Ambrosia was launched that uses the blood of the young in a transfusion process to slow aging. The FDA says there is no no evidence that the procedure works.

Numerous science experts and researchers, some of whom had their research used by Ambrosia to further its practices, warn the public that the company’s methods are dangerous.

Nevertheless, Ambrosia now offers the procedure in five American cities and may expand operations depending on demand.
Promises of youth

Ambrosia was launched by Jesse Karmazin. Karmazin is a Stanford Medical School graduate but is not licensed to act as a medical practitioner. Ambrosia offers its youth rejuvenating services via transfusion as an “off-label” medical treatment, meaning that it is an unapproved treatment procedure.

Ambrosia transfuses the blood of people aged 16 to 25 into its customers on the idea that the blood of the young will rejuvenate the internal organs of older people. The company charges $8,000 for one-liter blood transfusions and $12,000 for two-liter transfusions.

Ambrosia conducted clinical trials in 2017 but has yet to share its findings. The company’s product is based on Stanford University research and a 150-year procedure called parabiosis.

The procedure has never been proven to reverse ageing. The recent research conducted on it was to search for treatments for various medical conditions, not anti-aging cures.

The researchers whose work Ambrosia built upon have made public warnings that its anti-aging procedures may be life threatening. They can cause issues with immunity, mismatched transfused blood cells can attack the patient’s cells, and other problems.

The FDA released a public warning about Ambrosia’s procedures without naming the company. Ambrosia halted operations for a few weeks earlier this year but is now operating in San Francisco, California and Tampa, Florida.

The company claims to be operating in Los Angeles, Omaha, and Houston. Ambrosia has reportedly infused over 150 people, aged between 35 ad 92, with the blood of the young.

Source: losangeles.cbslocal.com

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A bill requiring hearing aids for babies and young children is one step closer to passage.

The bill cleared the state assembly and is now headed to the California senate.

CBS2/KCAL9’s Randy Paige spoke to one family at a hearing clinic about the impact of the vote.

He listens to a 5-year-old girl as she gushes about one of her favorite things — ice cream!

“I like vanilla and chocolate but do you know this kind of ice cream…,” says Zoe.

You’re witnessing a miracle and it’s made possible by the tiny piece
of technology tucked inside the little girl’s ear — a hearing aid.

When Zoe was diagnosed with a severe hearing loss as a baby, it was a
race against time to get her fitted for hearing aids. With each passing
day, her brain was missing out on critical auditory clues about the
world around her.

She was unable to hear the frequencies of her own mother’s voice.

“When you have an infant and you have all these aspirations for them,
Rhodes scholar, or whatever, and you don’t even know if they’re going
to be able to talk it’s just so painful,” says Zoe’s mom.

“The first sIx months are critical so that the brain can start making
sense of what all these sounds are and what it means,” says Cathleen
Mathes, president and CEO of the John Tracy Center, a nationally
recognized clinic for families with children who are deaf or hard of
hearing.

Mathes was also Zoe’s therapist.

Paige asks what would have happened if Zoe hadn’t received her hearing aids early on.

“It would be very difficult for her to gain spoken language skills,”
says Mathes, who acknowledges without the early intervention Zoe would
be unable to speak in long, full sentences, “the way we heard her speak
today,” she says.

Zoe’s mom says she had to borrow used hearing aids from the Tracy
Clinic — at first — and it was a financial struggle to come up with the
$8,000 she needed to buy Zoe’s aids a short time later.

” I saw my bank account go from positive to negative pretty fast,” she says.

That’s because health insurance companies in California are not required to cover the cost of hearing aids in children.

It’s estimated that only one in 10 families have private insurance that has a policy that covers hearing aids.

That could soon change. A parent-led initiative has now passed the state assembly and headed to the California senate.

If AB598 is passed into law, it would require health insurance companies to include coverage for children’s hearing aids.

“I actually think about the light coming through the window and the dust settling in the room,” says Zoe’s mom

She looks at a photo — taken on the day Zoe first heard her mother’s voice.

“From about 10 feet away, when they turned on her hearing aids I
called her name and she lit up. And I knew that she was on. So I said
Zoe, and she turned around and she looked at me and smiled and I just
knew that we were connected and I was, I just I can’t tell you how
excited I was to see her and know that we were going to be okay.”

And now nearly five years later, Zoe carries the promise of all of
the other children who need the key to unlock the sounds of the outside
world — but many may not be able to afford it.

Backers of the bill are optimistic about the future. They say if it
sails through the senate, Govenor Newsom has shown that he cares about
the needs of young children.
