Dr. Mpho Kgosi

Dr. Mpho Kgosi is a paediatrician at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown, the principal referral hospital for northern Botswana and the country's second-largest hospital. With over 10 years of experience in child health, Dr. Kgosi serves a broad catchment area that extends across the North East, Central, and Chobe districts, managing paediatric cases from infancy through adolescence.

He manages neonatal conditions including jaundice (phototherapy management), neonatal sepsis, respiratory distress syndrome, and birth asphyxia. For older children, he treats acute gastroenteritis with dehydration, severe acute malnutrition, pneumonia, malaria, and febrile convulsions. He is experienced in managing HIV-exposed infants in the context of the national PMTCT programme, including early infant diagnosis, prophylaxis, and initiation of antiretroviral therapy. He performs standard paediatric procedures including lumbar puncture, IV cannulation, and nasogastric tube placement, and conducts developmental surveillance assessments.

Dr. Kgosi participates in the Botswana Paediatric Association's activities and has contributed to internal audits of neonatal outcomes and childhood malnutrition management at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. He has participated in data collection activities linked to Botswana's national child health and PMTCT monitoring programmes and has attended Southern African paediatric congresses, deepening his engagement with the regional paediatric medicine community.
