Dr. Haji Ahmad Zaini

Dr. Haji Ahmad Zaini is a consultant general surgeon at Ripas Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan. With 13 years of surgical experience, he provides laparoscopic and open general surgical services within Brunei's national health system.

Dr. Zaini trained at the University of Brunei Darussalam before obtaining his FRCS in General Surgery and completing a laparoscopic surgery fellowship. His practice covers the common general surgical conditions in Brunei including gallbladder disease, appendicitis, colorectal cancer — increasingly prevalent due to dietary patterns — hernia, and thyroid surgery.

For highly complex oncological resections or subspecialist procedures beyond Ripas Hospital's capacity, he coordinates patient referrals to Singapore or Malaysia through established international referral pathways.

Dr. Zaini earned his MBBS from the University of Brunei Darussalam and FRCS in General Surgery. He completed a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery through training in Malaysia and Singapore. He participates in continuing surgical education through the Brunei Medical Association and ASEAN surgical conferences.

Dr. Zaini performs laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendicectomy, inguinal and incisional hernia repair, colorectal resection for cancer and benign disease, thyroidectomy, and breast surgery. He manages both elective and emergency general surgical cases at Ripas Hospital.
