Dr. Andreas Christodoulou

Dr. Andreas Christodoulou is a senior interventional cardiologist at Nicosia General Hospital, Cyprus's largest public hospital and the primary cardiovascular referral center on the island. With 20 years of clinical experience, he is among Cyprus's most respected cardiologists.

Cyprus has developed into a notable medical tourism destination within the Eastern Mediterranean, with its EU membership, English-speaking medical community, high healthcare standards, and attractive location drawing patients from the Middle East, Russia, and Northern Europe. Dr. Christodoulou has been part of Cyprus's effort to develop cardiology services to European standards.

He completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at King's College Hospital in London, one of the UK's leading cardiac centers. His UK training provided deep expertise in complex PCI techniques and evidence-based cardiology practice. He returned to Cyprus where he has led the catheterization laboratory program at Nicosia General.

Dr. Christodoulou is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and participates in Mediterranean and European cardiology networks. He is committed to preventive cardiology and has established a cardiovascular risk reduction clinic at Nicosia General Hospital.

Dr. Christodoulou received his MD from the University of Athens School of Medicine in 2001. He completed his cardiology residency at Nicosia General Hospital and undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at King's College Hospital, London, UK (2006–2008). His PhD from the University of Athens in 2011 focused on platelet function and antiplatelet therapy optimization in PCI patients. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and is certified by the Cyprus Medical Association in cardiology.

Dr. Christodoulou specializes in interventional cardiology including primary PCI for acute MI, elective coronary angioplasty, stent implantation, and physiological coronary assessment using FFR. He performs comprehensive echocardiography and manages the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease including heart failure, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease. He leads the preventive cardiology clinic, designing individualized cardiovascular risk reduction programs for high-risk patients. He also coordinates with cardiac surgeons for complex valvular and surgical revascularization referrals.

Dr. Christodoulou has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals including the European Heart Journal and the Hellenic Journal of Cardiology. His research focuses on antiplatelet therapy optimization, PCI outcomes in the Cypriot population, and cardiovascular risk factor management. He collaborates with cardiology groups in Greece and the UK and participates in the Mediterranean cardiovascular research network.

Dr. Christodoulou speaks Greek and English fluently and has extensive experience with international patients.
