Dr. Eleni Kyriakidou

Dr. Eleni Kyriakidou is a medical oncologist at the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre (BOCOC) in Nicosia, Cyprus's dedicated oncology hospital and the primary cancer treatment center on the island. With 16 years of clinical experience, she has become one of Cyprus's leading oncologists with expertise in breast cancer and immunotherapy.

BOCOC is a specialized cancer center that has become a regional medical tourism hub for oncology, attracting patients from the Middle East, Russia, and neighboring countries who seek EU-standard cancer care in an accessible, English-speaking environment. Dr. Kyriakidou plays a key role in the hospital's international patient oncology program.

She completed an advanced oncology fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London — one of the world's foremost cancer centers — gaining expertise in breast cancer molecular biology, HER2-targeted therapy, and immune checkpoint inhibitor protocols. She returned to Cyprus where she introduced molecular tumor board review for all complex cases at BOCOC.

Dr. Kyriakidou is an ESMO member and participates in Mediterranean oncology research networks. She is known for her evidence-based approach and for her ability to communicate complex oncology information clearly to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Kyriakidou received her MD from the University of Athens School of Medicine in 2005. She completed her oncology residency at BOCOC and undertook an advanced oncology fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, UK (2010–2012). Her PhD from the University of Cyprus in 2014 focused on HER2 amplification and targeted therapy outcomes in Cypriot breast cancer patients. She is an ESMO member and is certified by the Cyprus Medical Association in medical oncology.

Dr. Kyriakidou's primary clinical focus is breast oncology, with expertise in all subtypes including hormone receptor-positive, HER2-positive, and triple-negative breast cancer. She designs and administers chemotherapy, HER2-targeted therapy, CDK4/6 inhibitors, and immune checkpoint inhibitors. She also treats lung, colorectal, ovarian cancer, and melanoma. She leads the BOCOC molecular tumor board and integrates NGS profiling into individualized treatment plans. She has particular experience managing the oncology needs of international patients with diverse language and cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Kyriakidou has published over 18 peer-reviewed articles in journals including the Annals of Oncology and Cancer Medicine. Her research focuses on breast cancer molecular subtypes in the Cypriot population, immunotherapy outcomes, and the delivery of oncology care to international patients. She collaborates with oncologists in the UK and Greece and participates in Mediterranean oncology research consortia.

Dr. Kyriakidou speaks Greek and English and has extensive experience with international oncology patients. BOCOC has a dedicated international patient department with multilingual coordinators, telemedicine consultation capability, and the ability to review pathology and imaging sent from abroad for second opinions. Cyprus's English-speaking healthcare environment, EU regulatory standards for cancer drugs, year-round accessibility, and comfortable climate make it an increasingly popular destination for cancer treatment among patients from Russia, the Middle East, and the UK diaspora.

Dr. Kyriakidou received the Cyprus Society of Medical Oncology Award for Clinical Excellence in 2019. She was recognized by BOCOC for her leadership in establishing the molecular tumor board and for her contributions to building the hospital's international patient oncology program. She received ESMO travel grant recognition and has presented at the ESMO Breast Cancer Annual Congress.
