Dr. Tamar Beridze

Dr. Tamar Beridze is a consultant medical oncologist at Medische Clinic in Tbilisi — one of Georgia's modern private hospitals offering specialist oncology services to a population that has historically traveled abroad for cancer treatment. Georgia's healthcare transformation over the past decade has enabled the development of domestic oncology programs, and Dr. Beridze is part of the generation of Georgian oncologists who trained in Europe and returned to build high-quality cancer medicine in their country.

With 16 years of oncology practice, Dr. Beridze manages the most prevalent cancer diagnoses in Georgia: breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and lymphoma. She applies evidence-based systemic therapy protocols aligned with ESMO guidelines, bringing European-standard cancer care to Tbilisi. Georgia's healthcare system has made significant progress in enabling access to targeted therapies and immunotherapy agents through public and private insurance mechanisms, and Dr. Beridze advocates for her patients' access to these modern treatments.

Her breast oncology practice integrates hormone receptor, HER2, and Ki-67 testing into treatment decisions, and she is experienced in managing both early and metastatic disease. For lung cancer, she applies EGFR, ALK, ROS1, and PD-L1 testing to guide targeted therapy and immunotherapy selection.

She communicates in Georgian, Russian, and English — covering the linguistic needs of Georgia's domestic population and the international patients who travel to Tbilisi for medical care from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and other post-Soviet countries.

Dr. Beridze obtained her MD from Tbilisi State Medical University and completed Internal Medicine and Oncology residency in Tbilisi. She undertook a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the University Hospital of Basel in Switzerland, gaining experience in European-standard oncology practice. She holds a PhD in Oncology from Tbilisi State Medical University and the ESMO certification from the European Society for Medical Oncology. She maintains active ESMO membership and participates in ESMO educational programs for Eastern European and Caucasus oncologists.

Dr. Beridze's medical oncology practice covers solid tumors and lymphoma. In breast cancer, she designs neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy, prescribes trastuzumab and pertuzumab for HER2-positive disease, CDK4/6 inhibitors for HR-positive metastatic disease, and manages triple-negative breast cancer with chemotherapy and immunotherapy combinations. In lung cancer, she prescribes EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (osimertinib), ALK inhibitors (alectinib, lorlatinib), and pembrolizumab for high PD-L1 NSCLC. For colorectal cancer, she manages FOLFOX/FOLFIRI regimens with bevacizumab or anti-EGFR antibodies. She conducts bone marrow biopsies for lymphoma staging and manages rituximab-based lymphoma regimens.

Dr. Beridze has published in the Georgian Medical News and has contributed to European oncology registry data through ESMO network participation. She presents at the Georgian Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting and the ESMO Oncology Summit for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She participates in the Georgian Ministry of Health oncology program advisory activities.

Medische Clinic serves Georgian domestic patients and increasingly international patients from the South Caucasus. Dr. Beridze consults in Georgian, Russian, and English.
