Dr. Abena Owusu-Ansah is a senior obstetrician and gynaecologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana's second-largest city and the cultural capital of the Ashanti Region. Education & Training
Dr. Owusu-Ansah completed her MBChB at KNUST School of Medicine in Kumasi and undertook specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at KATH, earning her Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. She subsequently obtained a Fellowship in Maternal-Foetal Medicine at a partner institution in the United Kingdom, where she gained advanced training in high-risk obstetric management, foetal diagnosis and surveillance, and perinatal care. She also undertook training in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery in Germany. On returning to Ghana, she established minimally invasive gynaecological surgery at KATH as a standard offering alongside open surgical procedures.

Dr. Owusu-Ansah performs laparoscopic hysterectomy and myomectomy, open caesarean section and complex obstetric surgery, colposcopy with LLETZ for cervical pre-cancer, hysteroscopy for intrauterine pathology, and gynaecological oncology surgery for cervical and ovarian malignancies. Her maternal-foetal medicine expertise includes advanced foetal ultrasound assessment, Doppler surveillance of foetal growth restriction, and management of complex multi-foetal pregnancies. She manages severe preeclampsia with magnesium sulphate, antihypertensives, and timely delivery planning.
