Dr. Georgios Papadopoulos

Dr. Georgios Papadopoulos is a senior interventional cardiologist and electrophysiologist at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece's largest and most prestigious public hospital and a center of excellence in cardiac care. With 21 years of clinical experience, he is one of Greece's leading cardiologists.

He completed an interventional cardiology and electrophysiology fellowship at the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam — one of the world's most renowned cardiovascular centers. This fellowship gave him world-class training in complex PCI and catheter ablation techniques.

Dr. Papadopoulos returned to Athens where he established a combined interventional cardiology and electrophysiology practice at Evangelismos. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and is active in the Hellenic Cardiological Society. He has participated in landmark European cardiology trials and contributes to national guideline development.

His PhD from the University of Athens in 2009 focused on catheter ablation outcomes for atrial fibrillation. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and is certified by the Hellenic Medical Association in cardiology.

Dr. Papadopoulos specializes in both interventional cardiology and electrophysiology. In interventional cardiology, he performs complex coronary interventions including CTO PCI, bifurcation stenting, and physiological assessment-guided procedures. In electrophysiology, he performs catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular arrhythmia using 3D electroanatomical mapping systems. He implants pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices. He also manages heart failure and the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Papadopoulos has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in the European Heart Journal, Europace, and other leading cardiology journals. His research focuses on catheter ablation outcomes, complex coronary intervention results, and heart failure device therapy. He collaborates with cardiology groups in the Netherlands and the UK and has presented at ESC and EHRA congresses.
