Dr. Aigerim Bekova

Dr. Aigerim Bekova is a senior cardiologist at the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center in Nur-Sultan — Kazakhstan's capital city and home to the country's most advanced cardiovascular institutions. Kazakhstan has invested substantially in healthcare development as part of its economic modernization program, and the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center represents some of the region's most advanced cardiac care, combining high-volume cardiac surgery with interventional cardiology.

With 18 years of cardiology practice, Dr. Bekova manages the significant cardiovascular disease burden of Kazakhstan's population, where coronary artery disease, hypertension, and heart failure are leading causes of mortality. Her interventional practice covers diagnostic coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention, while her clinical cardiology work encompasses comprehensive heart failure management and echocardiographic assessment.

Kazakhstan's large, geographically dispersed population includes both urban centers like Nur-Sultan and Almaty and remote rural areas with limited specialist access. Dr. Bekova sees patients referred from across Kazakhstan's vast territory, and is experienced managing patients with delayed presentations and incomplete prior workup.

She trained in Germany and holds the FESC designation, reflecting training to European specialty standards. She communicates in Kazakh, Russian, and English — essential multilingual capability for Kazakhstan's diverse population.

Dr. Bekova obtained her MD from Kazakh National Medical University in Almaty and completed Internal Medicine and Cardiology residency at the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center. She undertook further cardiology training in Germany at the Universitätsklinikum Düsseldorf, gaining experience in interventional cardiology and heart failure management. She holds a PhD in Cardiology from Kazakh National Medical University and the FESC (Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology) designation.

Dr. Bekova performs diagnostic coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention for acute and chronic coronary syndromes. Her non-invasive practice includes transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing, and Holter monitoring. In heart failure, she optimizes guideline-directed medical therapy and coordinates device therapy evaluation with cardiac surgery and electrophysiology colleagues. She manages atrial fibrillation with rate and rhythm control and anticoagulation assessment. She conducts 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and lipid management clinics for primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention.

Dr. Bekova has published in the Kazakhstan Medical Journal and contributed to ESC cardiovascular registry data. She participates in the Kazakhstan Cardiological Society activities and presents at the national cardiology congress. She collaborates with European cardiology centers through ESC network educational programs.
