Dr. Azamat Dzhaksybekov

Dr. Azamat Dzhaksybekov is a consultant urologist at the National Hospital of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek — the country's primary national referral hospital and the highest-level medical institution in the Kyrgyz Republic, providing tertiary specialist services for the most complex cases across the country. With 15 years of urological experience, he is among Kyrgyzstan's most experienced urologists.

Kyrgyzstan has a significant burden of urolithiasis (kidney and urinary tract stones), believed to be related to the country's geographic and climatic factors — particularly the high-altitude, semi-arid conditions of much of the country, which can lead to chronic dehydration and concentrated urine predisposing to stone formation. Dr. Dzhaksybekov's practice is heavily focused on endourological stone management, and he has performed thousands of ureteroscopy and PCNL procedures for stone disease.

He trained in urology within Kyrgyzstan and completed advanced endourology training in Russia at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University — reflecting the strong Russian academic influence on Kyrgyzstan's medical education system — obtaining the Russian Urological Society's Diploma in Endourology.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov completed his medical degree at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) in Bishkek and undertook urology residency at the National Hospital of Kyrgyzstan. He obtained specialist certification in urology from KSMA. He completed advanced endourology training at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow, Russia, and holds the Russian Urological Society Diploma in Endourology. He has completed additional training in holmium laser surgery and laparoscopic urology.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov's primary clinical focus is endourological stone management and surgical treatment of prostate and bladder disease. For urinary tract stones, he performs flexible ureteroscopy (fURS) with holmium laser lithotripsy for kidney and ureteric stones up to 2 cm, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for large or staghorn kidney stones. He also performs extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) case selection and referral.

For prostate disease, he performs transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for BPH, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), and manages prostate cancer through radical prostatectomy (open technique). For bladder tumours, he performs TURBT with photodynamic diagnosis and coordinates intravesical BCG or chemotherapy for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. He performs laparoscopic nephrectomy for renal tumours.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov consults in Kyrgyz, Russian, and English — making him accessible to the widest range of Central Asian patients and diaspora communities in Russia. The National Hospital serves patients referred from across Kyrgyzstan's provinces, and Bishkek's specialist urology services attract patients from neighboring Kazakhstan and Tajikistan who lack access to endourology equipment in their home cities.

Video consultations in Russian and English are available for remote patients and for second-opinion review of complex urinary stone, BPH, and urological oncology cases. Patients may submit CT KUB imaging, ultrasound reports, and PSA results for remote review before traveling to Bishkek. For cases requiring interventional procedures beyond Kyrgyzstan's current capacity, Dr. Dzhaksybekov facilitates coordinated referrals to urology centers in Almaty or Moscow.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov received the Kyrgyzstan Society of Urology Annual Award for his outstanding contributions to endourology development in the Kyrgyz Republic, recognizing his role in establishing ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy and PCNL as routine procedures at the National Hospital.
