Dr. Ulan Dzhaksybekov

Dr. Ulan Dzhaksybekov is a consultant general surgeon at Bishkek Emergency Hospital — Kyrgyzstan's primary emergency and trauma surgery center. With 16 years of surgical practice, Dr. Dzhaksybekov manages both emergency and elective surgical cases, providing essential surgical services to Bishkek's population and patients referred from across Kyrgyzstan's regions.

His emergency surgery practice is high-volume and demanding: Bishkek Emergency Hospital manages acute surgical emergencies around the clock, including acute appendicitis, bowel obstruction, perforated viscus, abdominal trauma, and complications of hernia. Dr. Dzhaksybekov is experienced in damage control surgery principles for traumatic emergencies, performing life-saving laparotomy with staged reconstruction for complex injuries.

In elective surgery, he performs cholecystectomy for gallbladder disease — both laparoscopic and open — hernia repair with and without mesh, and bowel resection for malignancy and benign conditions. He has developed laparoscopic surgery skills that are increasingly being introduced to Kyrgyzstan's surgical practice, enabling minimally invasive approaches for appropriate elective cases.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov obtained his MD from the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and completed General Surgery residency at Bishkek Emergency Hospital. He undertook postgraduate surgical training and laparoscopic surgery courses in Russia at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in Moscow. He holds the Kyrgyz Medical Board specialist certification in General Surgery and participates in ongoing surgical education through the Kyrgyzstan Surgical Society.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov's surgical practice encompasses emergency and elective abdominal surgery. In emergencies, he performs exploratory laparotomy, appendectomy for acute appendicitis, bowel resection for obstruction and ischemia, perforation repair, and damage control procedures for traumatic injuries. In elective surgery, he performs laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy, inguinal and incisional hernia repair, sigmoid resection for diverticular disease and malignancy, and splenectomy. He manages common postoperative complications and participates in the surgical intensive care management of complex postoperative patients.

Dr. Dzhaksybekov has contributed to case series and clinical reports published in the Kyrgyz Medical Association journal on emergency surgical outcomes and laparoscopic cholecystectomy introduction in Kyrgyzstan. He participates in the Kyrgyzstan Surgical Society activities and Kyrgyz Ministry of Health surgical service quality improvement programs.

Bishkek Emergency Hospital primarily serves Kyrgyzstan's domestic population. Dr. Dzhaksybekov consults in Kyrgyz and Russian and provides primarily in-person surgical care.
