Dr. Bounma Phommasack

Dr. Bounma Phommasack is a cardiologist at Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane, Laos's largest and most prominent public hospital. With 10 years of cardiology experience, he provides non-invasive cardiac assessment and medical management for patients in Laos's developing healthcare system.

Dr. Bounma trained at the University of Health Sciences Laos before completing his cardiology training. His multilingual capability — Lao, Thai, English, and French — reflects Laos's geographic and cultural position between Thailand (a major referral centre) and French-speaking regional partners.

Laos has limited invasive cardiology capacity, and complex cases requiring coronary angiography or structural heart interventions are referred to Bangkok or Vientiane's international hospitals. Dr. Bounma earned his MD from the University of Health Sciences Laos. He completed his cardiology training and Diploma in Cardiology with support from regional medical education partners in Thailand and France. He holds a Certificate in Echocardiography from training workshops in Thailand.

He performs ECG interpretation, Holter monitoring, and exercise stress testing. For patients requiring invasive procedures, he coordinates referrals through Mahosot Hospital's international network to Bangkok.

Dr. Bounma is focused on clinical cardiology practice and contributing to capacity development in Laos's healthcare system. He participates in Lao Medical Association continuing education activities and regional ASEAN cardiology meetings.
