Dr. Nadia El Hajj

Dr. Nadia El Hajj is a professor of oncology and specialist in gynecologic malignancies at Hotel Dieu de France Hospital in Beirut — one of Lebanon's most distinguished French-tradition academic hospitals, affiliated with Saint Joseph University. Hotel Dieu's oncology department reflects the finest of Lebanese academic medicine, combining French clinical training with international research standards.

With 20 years of medical oncology practice, Dr. El Hajj is recognized as one of Lebanon's leading gynecologic oncologists, managing ovarian, endometrial, cervical, and vulvar cancers with both systemic therapy and coordination of surgical and radiotherapy components. Her cancer genetics expertise is particularly valued: Lebanon has a significant population of Lebanese diaspora from multiple continents returning for specialist medical care, including BRCA mutation carriers and families with hereditary cancer syndromes who seek genetic counseling and risk management from a clinician who understands their cultural and family context.

Her research activities connect Hotel Dieu to international oncology trial networks, and she participates in ESMO committees that shape European standards for gynecologic cancer care. Dr. El Hajj obtained her MD from Saint Joseph University Faculty of Medicine in Beirut. She completed Medical Oncology residency and fellowship at the Institut Curie in Paris — one of the world's premier cancer research and treatment centers with particular excellence in gynecologic oncology. She holds a PhD in Tumor Biology from Université Paris Descartes. She holds the FRCR designation and ESMO certification and serves as Professor of Oncology at Saint Joseph University Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. El Hajj specializes in systemic therapy for gynecologic malignancies. In ovarian cancer, she manages platinum-taxane-based chemotherapy, bevacizumab combinations, and PARP inhibitor maintenance therapy for BRCA-mutated and HRD-positive patients using olaparib, niraparib, or rucaparib. For endometrial cancer, she prescribes carboplatin-paclitaxel with lenvatinib-pembrolizumab for MSS/POLE wild-type and immunotherapy for MSI-high patients. For cervical cancer, she manages cisplatin-based chemoradiation sensitization, pembrolizumab for PD-L1-positive disease, and bevacizumab combinations for recurrent disease. In breast cancer, she manages BRCA-associated disease with PARP inhibitors and coordinates care for hereditary cancer syndrome patients. She performs bone marrow biopsies and provides cancer genetic counseling.

Dr. El Hajj has published over 50 papers in Annals of Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, and the International Journal of Cancer on ovarian cancer PARP inhibitor outcomes, hereditary cancer syndromes in Lebanese populations, and gynecologic oncology in the Arab world. She is an active ESMO Faculty member, contributes to ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines for gynecologic cancers, and presents at ESMO Annual Congress and IGCS meetings.
