Dr. Stefan Vuković

Dr. Stefan Vuković is a neurologist at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro in Podgorica. With 14 years of clinical neurology experience, he manages stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis for Montenegro's population. He completed neurology training at the Clinical Centre of Serbia in Belgrade and undertook an MS fellowship at the Medical University of Graz in Austria. He established Montenegro's MS treatment clinic, introducing disease-modifying therapies for eligible patients. He is an EAN member and participates in regional Balkan neurology networks.

Dr. Vuković received his MD from the University of Montenegro Faculty of Medicine in 2007. He completed his neurology residency at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro and advanced training at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, Belgrade (2011–2012) and an MS fellowship at the Medical University of Graz, Austria (2015). He holds an MSc in Clinical Neurology from the University of Montenegro (2014). He is an EAN member and is certified by the Medical Chamber of Montenegro in neurology.

Dr. Vuković's clinical expertise spans the major neurological conditions in Montenegro's population. In stroke medicine, he leads thrombolysis decisions for acute ischemic stroke and manages secondary prevention programmes including antiplatelet therapy and risk factor control. In epilepsy, he evaluates seizure disorders through EEG interpretation and prescribes appropriate antiepileptic drug therapy. In multiple sclerosis, he administers disease-modifying therapies including interferon beta, glatiramer acetate, and newer oral agents — natalizumab and fingolimod — monitoring disease activity through MRI and clinical assessments. He also manages Parkinson's disease with dopaminergic therapy and migraine with preventive and acute treatments. His procedural skills include EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and lumbar puncture.

Dr. Vuković has published peer-reviewed articles in Montenegrin and regional Balkan neurology journals, with research focused on multiple sclerosis epidemiology in Montenegro, the effectiveness of disease-modifying therapies in the Montenegrin MS population, and stroke outcomes following thrombolysis at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro. He collaborates with neurologists at the Clinical Centre of Serbia in Belgrade and at the Medical University of Graz in Austria, maintaining academic ties developed during his training and fellowship. He presents research at the Montenegro Society of Neurology meetings and participates in Balkan neurology educational networks.

Dr. Vuković speaks Montenegrin and English and is accessible to expatriates, tourists, and diaspora patients in Montenegro requiring specialist neurological care. Video consultations are available for second opinions on neurological conditions, enabling patients from across Europe to discuss their MRI scans, EEG reports, and clinical histories remotely. For complex neurological cases that exceed local capacity — such as advanced MS requiring novel biological therapies, or epilepsy requiring surgical evaluation — he coordinates referrals to established neurology centers at the Medical University of Graz in Austria and the Clinical Centre of Serbia in Belgrade.

Dr. Vuković was recognized by the Clinical Centre of Montenegro for establishing the hospital's multiple sclerosis treatment clinic and introducing disease-modifying therapies for eligible Montenegrin MS patients for the first time. He received recognition from the Montenegro Society of Neurology for his sustained contributions to developing neurological care standards in Montenegro, including bringing stroke thrombolysis and comprehensive epilepsy management to the Clinical Centre. He is an active member of the European Academy of Neurology and participates in EAN educational programs, contributing to the continuous improvement of neurology practice in Montenegro.
