Dr. Chioma Nwosu-Obi

Dr. Chioma Nwosu-Obi is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) — Nigeria's oldest teaching hospital and one of West Africa's leading academic medical institutions. With 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Nwosu-Obi is recognised as one of Lagos's senior specialists in high-risk obstetrics and gynaecologic surgery.

Nigeria carries one of the world's heaviest maternal mortality burdens, with the country accounting for a disproportionate share of global maternal deaths. Dr. Nwosu-Obi's high-risk obstetrics practice addresses the complications that drive this mortality: obstetric haemorrhage, eclampsia, obstructed labour, and sepsis. Simultaneously, her gynaecologic practice addresses the major burden of cervical cancer — the most common malignancy among Nigerian women — through colposcopy screening and treatment.

She manages obstetric emergencies including postpartum haemorrhage with uterotonic drugs, balloon tamponade, and surgical intervention.

In gynaecologic surgery, she performs laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic and open myomectomy for uterine fibroids, and diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. In cervical pathology, she performs colposcopy for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and treats with LEEP/LLETZ. She manages endometriosis and ovarian cysts.
