Dr. Blagoj Trajkovski

Dr. Blagoj Trajkovski is a neurologist at the University Clinic for Neurology in Skopje, North Macedonia's primary neurology referral center. With 16 years of clinical practice, he manages stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. He completed neurology training at the University Clinic for Neurology in Belgrade, Serbia and undertook a movement disorders fellowship at the University Hospital of Thessaloniki (AHEPA) in Greece. He is an EAN member and participates in Balkan neurology educational networks. He has been instrumental in introducing stroke thrombolysis protocols and botulinum toxin therapy for movement disorders and spasticity at the University Clinic.

Dr. Trajkovski obtained his MD from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University Faculty of Medicine in Skopje in 2005. He completed his neurology residency at the University Clinic for Neurology Skopje and undertook advanced training at the University Clinic for Neurology, Belgrade (2009–2010) and a movement disorders fellowship at AHEPA University Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece (2014). His PhD from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in 2013 focused on Parkinson's disease epidemiology in North Macedonia. He is an EAN member and is certified by the Medical Chamber of North Macedonia in neurology.

Dr. Trajkovski's clinical expertise spans the major neurological conditions in North Macedonia's patient population. In stroke medicine, he manages acute ischemic stroke with thrombolysis at the University Clinic's stroke unit and oversees secondary prevention programmes. In epilepsy, he performs comprehensive EEG evaluation and designs antiepileptic drug regimens for new-onset and refractory epilepsy. In Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, he initiates and optimizes dopaminergic therapy and administers botulinum toxin injections for dystonia and spasticity — an area of particular expertise developed during his movement disorders fellowship in Thessaloniki. In multiple sclerosis, he manages disease-modifying therapies and coordinates MRI monitoring. For migraine, he provides preventive and acute treatment strategies. His procedural skills include EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, lumbar puncture, and botulinum toxin injections.

Dr. Trajkovski has published peer-reviewed articles in Macedonian and regional Balkan neurology journals, with research focused on Parkinson's disease epidemiology in North Macedonia, stroke thrombolysis outcomes at the University Clinic for Neurology, and movement disorder treatment outcomes including botulinum toxin therapy for dystonia and spasticity. His PhD research examined Parkinson's disease epidemiology and clinical features in the North Macedonian population. He collaborates with neurologists in Serbia and Greece, maintaining active academic ties formed during his training at the University Clinic for Neurology in Belgrade and his movement disorders fellowship at AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki. He presents research at the Macedonian Society of Neurology Annual Meeting and participates in Balkan neurology educational networks.

Dr. Trajkovski speaks Macedonian and English and is accessible to diaspora patients and expatriates in North Macedonia requiring specialist neurological care. Video consultations are available for neurological second opinions, enabling patients in Western Europe — particularly the large Macedonian diaspora community in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK — to consult on MRI findings, epilepsy management, movement disorder treatment, and stroke prevention strategies. Dr. Trajkovski received the Macedonian Society of Neurology Award for Clinical Excellence in 2019, recognizing his sustained contributions to neurology in North Macedonia including his work in stroke medicine, movement disorders, and epilepsy management. He was recognized by the University Clinic for Neurology for establishing the hospital's botulinum toxin therapy programme for dystonia, spasticity, and movement disorders — a significant clinical advance for Macedonian patients previously lacking this treatment locally. He has received acknowledgement from the European Academy of Neurology for his contributions to EAN guideline implementation in North Macedonia. He serves as a clinical teacher at Ss.
