Prof. Knut E.A. Lundin

Prof. Knut E.A. Lundin is one of the world's leading authorities on celiac disease (coeliac disease) and mucosal immunology, holding a joint appointment as Professor of Gastroenterology at Oslo University Hospital and the University of Oslo. Over a research and clinical career spanning more than three decades, he has made fundamental contributions to understanding how gluten triggers immune-mediated mucosal injury in genetically susceptible individuals, how celiac disease should be diagnosed and managed, and how refractory cases should be evaluated and treated. Prof. Lundin's clinic at Oslo University Hospital is an internationally recognized referral center for complex and refractory celiac disease, attracting patients from across Europe and beyond. Prof. Knut E.A. Lundin completed his MD and PhD at the University of Oslo, with doctoral research focused on the immunology of celiac disease — specifically the role of HLA class II molecules and CD4+ T-cell responses to gluten-derived peptides.
