Dr. Andrea Martinez

Dr. Andrea Martinez is one of Metro Manila's most experienced medical oncologists, practicing at Makati Medical Center — the Philippines' most prestigious private hospital, serving a large international and expatriate community in addition to Filipino patients. With 25 years in clinical oncology, she has cared for thousands of patients across the full spectrum of solid tumour and haematological malignancies, with particular depth in breast cancer, lung cancer, and gastrointestinal cancers.

After completing her internal medicine training in the Philippines and earning her FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, she completed advanced oncology fellowship training in the United Kingdom before returning to the Philippines. She was among the early adopters of targeted therapy and immunotherapy in the Filipino oncology community, bringing evidence-based practice from global oncology to the Philippine clinical setting.

Dr. Martinez is an active clinician-educator: she teaches medical oncology residents at Makati Medical Center and serves on the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology's education committee. She participates in ASCO annual meetings and follows international oncology guidelines from ASCO, ESMO, and NCCN closely in her practice.

Dr. Martinez completed her MD at a leading Philippine medical university and her internal medicine residency in Manila. She obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, UK) — one of the most prestigious medical credentials internationally — and completed a medical oncology fellowship at a major UK cancer centre. She is a Fellow of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology (PSMO) and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Dr. Martinez manages solid tumour and haematological malignancies with expertise in modern multimodal treatment — chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy. In breast cancer, she treats all stages including early-stage breast cancer requiring adjuvant therapy, HER2-positive disease managed with anti-HER2 targeted agents, triple-negative breast cancer with immunotherapy combinations, and metastatic disease requiring complex sequencing of therapies.

In lung cancer, she manages non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) including EGFR-mutated disease with targeted agents, ALK-positive disease with ALK inhibitors, and PD-L1-high disease managed with immunotherapy. In gastrointestinal oncology, she treats colorectal, gastric, hepatocellular carcinoma, and pancreatic cancers. She conducts comprehensive molecular profiling to guide targeted therapy selection in all eligible tumour types.

Dr. Martinez consults in English, Filipino (Tagalog), and Spanish. Makati Medical Center has an international patient services department and experience with patients from the Middle East, Japan, Korea, the United States, and the wider expatriate community in Metro Manila.
