Dr. Nora Al Daghri

Dr. Nora Al Daghri is a consultant endocrinologist at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) in Dhahran — a uniquely positioned hospital delivering Johns Hopkins standard-of-care medicine to Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. JHAH combines the clinical infrastructure of a world-leading academic medical institution with deep roots in the Saudi community, and Dr. Al Daghri's endocrinology practice reflects this dual commitment: rigorous evidence-based management paired with culturally responsive patient education.

Saudi Arabia carries one of the world's highest burdens of type 2 diabetes, and Dr. Al Daghri has dedicated her 16-year career to improving metabolic outcomes at the individual and population level. Her diabetes clinic integrates advanced glucose monitoring technology — including continuous glucose monitors and hybrid closed-loop insulin pump systems — with structured patient education programs delivered in Arabic that address the nutritional and lifestyle factors most relevant to the Saudi context.

Beyond diabetes, Dr. Al Daghri has built a recognized practice in metabolic bone disease, an area of particular relevance in the Kingdom given the high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and its contribution to osteoporosis and fragility fractures. She co-leads JHAH's bone health clinic and works with rheumatologists and orthopedic surgeons to prevent and manage skeletal complications.

Her thyroid practice encompasses the full spectrum from autoimmune hypothyroidism through thyroid nodule evaluation and management in coordination with head and neck surgeons. Dr. Al Daghri obtained her MBBS from King Abdulaziz University Faculty of Medicine in Jeddah. She completed Internal Medicine residency at King Fahad Hospital of the University in Al Khobar, followed by an Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh, UK — one of Europe's leading centers for diabetes and metabolism research. She holds the FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh) and is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). She completed advanced training in insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring through the International Diabetes Center program.

Dr. Al Daghri's clinical expertise encompasses type 1 and type 2 diabetes management, including insulin pump and closed-loop technology initiation, continuous glucose monitor interpretation, and pharmacotherapy optimization using GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT-2 inhibitors, and basal-bolus insulin regimens. In thyroid disease, she evaluates and manages Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves' disease, and thyroid nodules — performing or coordinating fine needle aspiration biopsies for suspicious lesions. Her metabolic bone disease practice includes DEXA scan interpretation, bisphosphonate and denosumab prescribing, vitamin D deficiency management, and primary hyperparathyroidism evaluation. She also manages PCOS, adrenal insufficiency, and pituitary disorders.

Dr. Al Daghri has published extensively on the epidemiology of vitamin D deficiency and its metabolic consequences in the Saudi population, with papers in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Nutrients, and the Saudi Medical Journal. She participates in the JHAH clinical research program and has been involved in multi-center GCC studies examining the prevalence and management of type 2 diabetes. She presents at the Saudi Diabetes and Endocrine Association annual conference and serves on the association's clinical guidelines committee.

JHAH serves the diverse workforce community of Saudi Aramco and the broader Eastern Province, including a substantial international patient population. Dr. Al Daghri consults in both Arabic and English and is experienced managing patients with complex endocrine conditions who travel from neighboring Gulf states or from outside the region.
