Dr. Nataša Petrović

Dr. Nataša Petrović is a medical oncologist at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia (IORS), Belgrade — Serbia's national cancer center and primary referral institution for oncology treatment. With 16 years of clinical experience in medical oncology, she has developed expertise in breast cancer and thoracic oncology.

Dr. Petrović completed an oncology fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, one of the world's leading cancer centers. This experience gave her exposure to cutting-edge immunotherapy and targeted therapy protocols that she subsequently introduced to her practice in Belgrade.

She is an active researcher and has been a principal investigator in several international clinical trials at the IORS, providing Serbian cancer patients access to investigational therapies. She is an ESMO member and participates in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings at the institute.

Dr. Petrović is known for her evidence-based approach and her commitment to translating the latest international oncology advances into the Serbian clinical setting. She is also a dedicated teacher and supervises oncology residents and medical students at the University of Belgrade.

Dr. Petrović graduated from the University of Belgrade School of Medicine in 2005. She completed her internal medicine and oncology residency at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia and undertook an oncology fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London (2010–2011). Her PhD from the University of Belgrade in 2014 focused on predictive biomarkers in HER2-positive breast cancer. She is an ESMO member and is certified by the Serbian Medical Chamber in medical oncology.

Dr. Petrović's primary clinical focus is breast cancer and lung cancer, with expertise in all subtypes and stages of breast malignancy and non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. She designs and administers chemotherapy, targeted therapy (HER2-directed agents, EGFR/ALK inhibitors for lung cancer), hormone therapy, and immune checkpoint inhibitor protocols. She integrates molecular tumor profiling into treatment planning and manages patients on clinical trial protocols. She also treats colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, and melanoma within the IORS multidisciplinary framework.

Dr. Petrović has published over 22 peer-reviewed articles in journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the European Journal of Cancer. Her research focuses on HER2-targeted therapy outcomes, immunotherapy biomarkers, and clinical trial results in Serbian cancer patient populations. She collaborates with oncology groups in London and presents at ESMO and ASCO congresses.

Dr. Petrović speaks Serbian and English and is experienced in providing oncology second opinions and treatment to international patients. The IORS has an international patient coordination service and can provide consultation reports in English. Video consultations for second opinions are available. Serbia offers access to oncology treatment at highly competitive costs, and Belgrade is easily accessible from Western Europe and the Balkans.

Dr. Petrović received the Serbian Society of Medical Oncology Young Investigator Award in 2015. She was recognized by the IORS for her leadership in clinical trial program development. She received ESMO travel grants in 2016 and 2019 and was named one of Serbia's leading young oncologists by the Serbian Medical Journal.
