Dr. Zafar Rahimov

Dr. Zafar Rahimov is an Emergency Medicine specialist at the Republican Clinical Hospital in Dushanbe, Tajikistan's primary national referral hospital and the country's main centre for acute and emergency medical care. With over 12 years of experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Rahimov manages the full range of acute medical and surgical emergencies presenting to Dushanbe's largest hospital. Tajikistan's mountainous terrain creates specific emergency medicine challenges including road traffic accidents on difficult mountain roads, avalanche and altitude-related medical emergencies, and agricultural injuries. In trauma management, he provides initial assessment and resuscitation for polytrauma patients, including road traffic casualties, falls from height (relevant in Tajikistan's mountainous terrain), agricultural injuries, and occasionally blast injuries. He is experienced in airway management, haemorrhage control, and damage control resuscitation as initial approaches before specialist surgical intervention.
