Dr. Muhammet Gurbanov

Dr. Muhammet Gurbanov is a consultant cardiologist at the State Medical University Teaching Hospital in Ashgabat — one of Turkmenistan's principal institutions for specialist medical care. With 18 years of cardiology practice, Dr. Gurbanov manages the cardiovascular disease burden in a country where hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and heart failure represent the leading causes of mortality.

Turkmenistan's healthcare system is highly centralized in Ashgabat, where the main specialist hospitals are located. Cardiovascular disease, fueled by widespread tobacco use, high salt intake, and limited physical activity, places significant demand on Ashgabat's cardiology services.
