Dr. Ogulgerek Annagurbanova

Dr. Ogulgerek Annagurbanova is a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at the State Maternity Hospital in Ashgabat — Turkmenistan's principal center for maternal care and obstetric medicine. With 16 years of obstetric and gynecologic practice, Dr. Annagurbanova provides specialist obstetric care in a country that has achieved significant improvements in maternal health indicators through centralized healthcare investment.

Turkmenistan has made substantial progress in reducing maternal mortality through organized maternity services, and the State Maternity Hospital in Ashgabat is the flagship institution for this effort. Dr. Annagurbanova manages the full spectrum of obstetric care, with particular experience in high-risk obstetric conditions including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, multiple pregnancies, and placental complications.

Her gynecologic practice covers common benign gynecologic conditions including uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and gynecologic infections — managing these with both conservative and surgical approaches. Dr. Annagurbanova obtained her MD from the Turkmen State Medical University and completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the State Maternity Hospital in Ashgabat. She holds the Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGO) and completed further training in high-risk obstetrics at a Russian perinatal center. She has participated in UNFPA-supported maternal health capacity building programs in Turkmenistan.

Dr. Annagurbanova provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care. In obstetrics, she conducts full antenatal care with obstetric ultrasound surveillance, manages hypertensive disorders of pregnancy including pre-eclampsia with magnesium sulfate prophylaxis and antihypertensive therapy, manages gestational diabetes with dietary modification and insulin where needed, and provides intrapartum care for normal and complicated deliveries including operative vaginal delivery and cesarean section. She manages postpartum hemorrhage with uterotonic agents and surgical techniques. In gynecology, she manages benign gynecologic conditions including uterine fibroids, ovarian pathology, and endometriosis with medical and surgical therapy. She performs diagnostic curettage and basic gynecologic procedures.

Dr. Annagurbanova has contributed to maternal health data collection for the Turkmenistan Ministry of Health and UNFPA Turkmenistan programs. She participates in the Turkmenistan Obstetric and Gynecology Society activities and contributes to national maternal health protocol development.
