Dr. Oleksandr Kovalenko

Dr. Oleksandr Kovalenko is a senior interventional cardiologist at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital in Kyiv, one of Ukraine's premium private clinical hospitals serving government officials and private patients. With 20 years of clinical experience, he is among Ukraine's most respected cardiologists.

Despite the challenges faced by Ukraine since 2022, Feofaniya and other leading private clinics in Kyiv have continued to function and maintain high medical standards. Dr. Kovalenko has remained committed to delivering quality cardiac care, managing acute coronary syndromes, and performing coronary interventions throughout this period.

He completed training at the Institute of Cardiology named after M.D. Strazhesko in Kyiv and undertook an interventional cardiology observership at the Ankara Heart Center in Turkey. He is an ESC member and participates in Ukrainian and international cardiology guidelines development.

Dr. Kovalenko graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University in Kyiv in 2001. He completed his internal medicine and cardiology residency at the Institute of Cardiology named after M.D. Strazhesko in Kyiv. He undertook an interventional cardiology observership at the Ankara Heart Center, Turkey (2007). His PhD from Bogomolets National Medical University in 2009 focused on primary PCI outcomes in acute MI. He is certified by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in cardiology and is a member of the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr. Kovalenko specializes in interventional cardiology with expertise in primary PCI for acute MI, elective coronary angioplasty and stenting, and complex coronary interventions. He performs comprehensive echocardiography and manages the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease including heart failure, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease. He leads the cardiac rehabilitation program at Feofaniya, helping patients recover optimally after acute cardiac events and interventions.

Dr. Kovalenko has published over 18 peer-reviewed articles in Ukrainian and international cardiology journals. His research focuses on primary PCI outcomes, cardiac rehabilitation effectiveness, and heart failure management in the Ukrainian population. He collaborates with cardiology centers in Turkey and Poland and participates in the Ukrainian Cardiac Society research programs.

Dr. Kovalenko speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English and sees international patients at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital, which has maintained international patient services.
