Dr. Dilnoza Yusupova

Dr. Dilnoza Yusupova is a consultant medical oncologist at the Republican Specialized Scientific Practical Medical Center of Oncology in Tashkent — Uzbekistan's national cancer center and the primary institution for advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment in Central Asia's largest country. With 16 years of oncology practice, Dr. Yusupova manages the prevalent cancer diagnoses in Uzbekistan, with a particular focus on breast cancer, gynecologic malignancies, and gastrointestinal cancers.

Cervical cancer has a notably high incidence in Uzbekistan compared to Western countries, reflecting historically lower HPV vaccination coverage and cervical screening uptake. Dr. Yusupova advocates for improved prevention and manages cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer with systemic therapy in coordination with radiation and gynecologic surgery colleagues at the Republican Oncology Center.

Her breast oncology practice applies hormone receptor and HER2 testing to guide systemic therapy decisions, and she is working to expand access to targeted therapies — including CDK4/6 inhibitors and HER2-directed biologics — through national health program advocacy. For gastrointestinal cancers, she manages gastric and colorectal malignancies with available cytotoxic regimens and biologic agents.

Dr. Yusupova trained through an ESMO educational program and holds ESMO certification. She communicates in Uzbek, Russian, and English.

Dr. Yusupova obtained her MD from the Tashkent State Medical Institute and completed Oncology residency at the Republican Specialized Scientific Practical Medical Center of Oncology. She completed an ESMO East Medical Oncology Fellowship at a partner European center, gaining experience in contemporary systemic oncology. She holds a PhD in Oncology from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health Research Institute and the ESMO certification.

Dr. Yusupova's oncology practice covers the spectrum of solid tumor and gynecologic malignancies. In breast cancer, she prescribes anthracycline and taxane-based chemotherapy, trastuzumab for HER2-positive disease, CDK4/6 inhibitors for hormone receptor-positive metastatic disease where accessible, and aromatase inhibitors for postmenopausal HR-positive disease. In cervical cancer, she coordinates cisplatin-based chemoradiation sensitization and manages systemic therapy for recurrent/metastatic disease with pembrolizumab and bevacizumab where available. For ovarian cancer, she manages carboplatin-paclitaxel combinations and PARP inhibitor maintenance for eligible patients. She performs bone marrow biopsies and manages chemotherapy toxicity.

Dr. Yusupova has published in the Uzbekistan Medical Journal on breast and cervical cancer epidemiology and treatment outcomes in Uzbekistan. She participates in the Uzbekistan Oncological Society activities and ESMO East educational programs. She presents at the national oncology conference and contributes to the Uzbekistan National Cancer Control Plan.

The Republican Specialized Scientific Practical Medical Center of Oncology in Tashkent serves Uzbekistan's domestic cancer population and occasionally receives patients from neighbouring countries including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan, for whom Tashkent's more developed oncology infrastructure provides accessible specialist care. Dr. Yusupova consults in Uzbek, Russian, and English. Video consultations are available for oncology second opinions, allowing patients and their treating oncologists in neighbouring countries to review diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning remotely. For Uzbek cancer patients living abroad, Dr. Yusupova can provide remote consultation to help them navigate oncology treatment decisions in unfamiliar healthcare systems. The Republican Oncology Center can coordinate international referrals for patients requiring procedures beyond its current capacity, directing them to appropriate centres in Russia, Turkey, or South Korea.

Dr. Yusupova has been recognized by the Uzbekistan Oncological Society for her significant contributions to gynecologic cancer care and breast oncology education in Uzbekistan, receiving a commendation for her efforts to improve access to targeted and hormonal therapies for Uzbek cancer patients. She serves on the Republican Oncology Center's multidisciplinary tumour board, contributing to complex case decision-making across all solid tumour types. She is a member of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health oncology protocols committee, contributing to national cancer treatment guideline development. Dr. Yusupova participates in ESMO East educational program activities and has been acknowledged for her commitment to advancing oncology standards in Central Asia.
