L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is one of the world's foremost eye care institutions, headquartered at the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Established in 1987, LVPEI is a WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness and a non-profit organization governed by the Hyderabad Eye Institute (HEI) and Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation (HERF).

LVPEI's mission is to provide affordable, competent eye care to all sections of society, with special focus on geographically and economically disadvantaged groups. Since its founding, the institute has provided outpatient eye care to over 4 million people and surgical care to over 400,000 patients — approximately 50% free of charge. The institute extends its services through 72 primary and secondary eye care centres, satellite clinics, and rural affiliates across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

LVPEI offers comprehensive eye care across cornea and anterior segment diseases, LASIK and refractive laser surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, vitreoretinal surgery, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, ophthalmic plastic surgery and orbit, ocular oncology, contact lens services, vision rehabilitation, aesthetic facial plastic surgery, and ocular prosthesis. The institute is particularly renowned for its corneal transplant programme and cataract surgery at scale.

LVPEI's Hyderabad campus is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic technology for anterior segment imaging, retinal imaging, visual field testing, electrophysiology, and low vision assessment. Multiple dedicated surgical suites serve high-volume cataract, corneal, and vitreoretinal procedures. The institute's training programme has educated over 10,000 eye care personnel from India and other countries. LVPEI also monitors quality at 80 Rotary-supported cataract hospitals across India.

LVPEI attracts patients from across South Asia, South-East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa seeking expert eye care unavailable in their home countries. Advanced corneal procedures, retinal surgeries, and ocular oncology treatments are available at costs significantly lower than Western countries. The institute communicates in English and Telugu, and staff can assist with appointment scheduling, travel logistics, and accommodation guidance for overseas patients.
