National University Hospital (NUH) is Singapore's premier university hospital, a 1,160-bed tertiary care facility affiliated with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and forming the flagship institution of the National University Health System (NUHS). Situated at 5 Lower Kent Ridge Road in western Singapore, NUH is a major referral centre providing advanced care across more than 50 medical, surgical, and dental specialties.

NUH was the first hospital in Singapore to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation in 2004, a landmark achievement that established Singapore's reputation for international-grade hospital quality. In 2024, NUH became the first hospital globally to receive the JCI-Geneva Sustainability Centre's Healthcare Sustainability Certification, reflecting its commitment to environmentally responsible healthcare.

The National University Cancer Institute Singapore (NCIS) is the only university cancer centre in Singapore, integrating cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship services. The National University Heart Centre Singapore (NUHCS) provides comprehensive cardiac services from preventive cardiology to advanced heart failure management and cardiac surgery. The National University Centre for Oral Health Singapore (NUCOHS) delivers specialist dental care including oral medicine, orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and paediatric dentistry. Transplant services cover liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplantation, with NUH operating as a national referral centre for organ transplantation.

NUH's 1,160-bed campus in Kent Ridge features leading-edge medical infrastructure integrated with the academic and research environment of the National University Health System. The hospital's physical plant is organised into multiple towers with dedicated areas for inpatient wards, operating theatres, critical care, diagnostic imaging, and ambulatory care.

The hospital maintains more than 25 operating theatres equipped for complex surgeries including robotic-assisted procedures (da Vinci Surgical System), cardiac bypass, transplantation, and minimally invasive techniques. ICU facilities include Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Neonatal ICU, and High Dependency Unit beds. Advanced imaging covers 3T MRI, 320-slice CT, PET-CT, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology suites, and dedicated cardiac imaging laboratory.

NUH's clinical laboratory and blood bank operate 24 hours daily. The Cancer Centre at NUH (under NCIS) has dedicated chemotherapy suites, radiation oncology facilities, and clinical trial units. The Heart Centre (NUHCS) is equipped with hybrid catheterisation-surgery suites, electrophysiology labs, and cardiac rehabilitation facilities. The Dental Centre (NUCOHS) features digital dentistry equipment including CAD/CAM, cone beam CT, and laser dentistry systems. Research facilities on the same campus include clinical trial units, genomics labs, and biobanks supporting translational research programmes.

NUH actively welcomes international patients and has a dedicated International Patients service that coordinates care for patients travelling to Singapore from across Asia and beyond. The hospital receives significant numbers of patients from Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Vietnam, and the Middle East.

The International Patients team provides comprehensive pre-arrival support including initial clinical assessment, medical record review, appointment scheduling across NUH's 50+ specialties, and coordination with NCIS, NUHCS, or NUCOHS as required. Interpretation services are available in English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Bahasa Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian languages.

On arrival, international patients receive a dedicated case coordinator who guides them through the campus, manages their appointment schedule, liaises between specialist departments, and facilitates all administrative processes. Billing services cover self-pay, major international insurance plans, and Letter of Guarantee arrangements for corporate and government-sponsored patients. NUH can assist with accommodation at partner hotels near the Kent Ridge campus and with transport arrangements. Post-discharge telemedicine consultations with NUH specialists are available for overseas follow-up care.
