Taipei Medical University Hospital

Taipei Medical University (TMU; 臺北醫學大學) is one of Taiwan's leading private medical universities and the hub of a major multi-hospital academic healthcare network serving the Taipei metropolitan region. Founded in 1960, TMU has grown from a small medical college into a comprehensive health science university with faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, and biomedical technology, and a research and clinical enterprise that spans three affiliated teaching hospitals with a combined capacity exceeding 3,000 inpatient beds.

2. Wan-Fang Hospital — located at No. 111 Section 3 Xinglong Road, Wenshan District, Taipei (southern Taipei). Wan-Fang is a major teaching hospital known for its cancer program, organ transplantation, and minimally invasive surgery.

3. Shuang-Ho Hospital — located at No. 291 Zhongzheng Road, Zhonghe District, New Taipei City. Shuang-Ho is the largest of the three hospitals, with approximately 1,580 beds, developed under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model commissioned by the Taiwan Department of Health. It is the largest hospital in New Taipei City.

Together, the three TMU hospitals form a medical health care triangle covering northern, southern, and western Taipei and adjacent New Taipei City, providing comprehensive academic medical care across a large and densely populated catchment.

The three hospitals of the TMU system collectively provide a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialties at teaching hospital quality standards. Oncology is a major focus across the TMU network, with dedicated cancer programs at both TMU Hospital and Wan-Fang Hospital — covering surgical oncology (hepatobiliary, colorectal, urological, gynaecological, and head and neck cancers), medical oncology (systemic chemotherapy and targeted therapy), and radiation oncology (IMRT and stereotactic radiosurgery). Organ transplantation at Wan-Fang Hospital includes liver and kidney transplants within the TORSC national regulatory framework. The three TMU-affiliated hospitals provide modern clinical infrastructure distributed across Taipei and New Taipei City. Shuang-Ho Hospital in Zhonghe is the largest with approximately 1,580 beds, constructed as a purpose-built teaching hospital under the BOT model that has become an important model for public-private healthcare partnership in Taiwan. TMU Hospital in Xinyi District (inner Taipei) and Wan-Fang Hospital in Wenshan District each provide 600-800 beds with full tertiary hospital facilities. Each hospital operates multiple operating theatres covering general, specialist, and emergency surgery. Diagnostic imaging across the network encompasses CT, MRI (including 3T), PET-CT, digital angiography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Intensive care units at each hospital cover medical, surgical, cardiac, and neonatal/paediatric ICU patient populations. Radiation oncology facilities at TMU Hospital and Wan-Fang Hospital include linear accelerators configured for IMRT and SRS. Cardiac catheterization laboratories support the interventional cardiology programs. Robotic surgery da Vinci systems are deployed at Wan-Fang Hospital and are expanding across the network.
