Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital is one of Abu Dhabi's most established private hospitals, tracing its origins to 1985 when Dr. Kassem Alom — a Syrian-trained physician who had practiced at London's Charing Cross Hospital — opened an eight-bed clinic on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi. At the time, formal private healthcare infrastructure in the emirate was virtually nonexistent. Through sustained organic growth over three decades, the hospital expanded into a major multi-specialty network with three hospital facilities and nine medical centres, capturing approximately 39% of Abu Dhabi's private healthcare market — more than double its nearest competitor at the time of its London Stock Exchange flotation.

The hospital group was publicly listed as Al Noor Hospitals Group Plc and in February 2016 completed a transformative merger with Mediclinic International, valued at approximately £1.4 billion (US$2.1 billion). From April 2017, all Al Noor facilities and clinics were rebranded under the Mediclinic name, becoming Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital.
