What Is IVF Surrogacy?

IVF surrogacy, more precisely termed gestational surrogacy or gestational carrier arrangement, is an assisted reproductive technology pathway in which embryos are created by in vitro fertilisation using eggs and sperm from the intended parents (or donors) and transferred to the uterus of a gestational carrier — the surrogate — who carries and delivers the pregnancy. Gestational surrogacy with IVF is indicated when the intended mother has no uterus or a non-functioning uterus, cannot carry a pregnancy safely due to medical conditions, has experienced recurrent implantation failure from severe uterine pathology, or when same-sex male couples or single males wish to have a genetically related child. Who Needs IVF Surrogacy?

Benefits of IVF Surrogacy

Risks & Complications

Risks apply separately to the intended mother and the surrogate.
