Dr. Kezia Morrison-Thomas

Dr. Kezia Morrison-Thomas is a consultant paediatrician at Holberton Hospital, the principal public hospital of Antigua and Barbuda, where she has provided comprehensive child health services for over a decade. A graduate of the University of the West Indies and holder of the MRCPCH from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the United Kingdom, she brings internationally recognised standards of paediatric care to the twin-island nation. Dr. Morrison-Thomas manages newborns through the neonatal unit, conducts well-child developmental assessments, and treats infectious diseases that are endemic in the Caribbean, including dengue fever and leptospirosis. She is a strong advocate for childhood vaccination and has been involved in national immunisation campaigns. Her patient-centred philosophy places the family at the centre of paediatric care, with particular attention to parental education and early intervention.

Dr. Morrison-Thomas completed her MBBS at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus in Barbados, a leading medical school serving the English-speaking Caribbean. Following graduation, she undertook postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, earning the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the Royal College of Physicians, London, and subsequently achieving Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Her clinical training included paediatric rotations in UK NHS hospitals with significant exposure to neonatal intensive care and paediatric infectious disease. On returning to Antigua, she completed her residency at Holberton Hospital and has served as a consultant paediatrician since. She regularly attends Caribbean Association of Paediatrics conferences and RCPCH continuing professional development events.

Dr. Morrison-Thomas's clinical expertise covers the full range of general paediatrics, with particular strengths in neonatology, infectious disease, and developmental medicine. In the neonatal unit she manages premature infants, neonatal sepsis, hyperbilirubinaemia, and respiratory distress syndrome. She conducts structured developmental surveillance for all children attending the outpatient clinic, providing early identification of developmental delay and referral pathways. Her infectious disease experience is particularly relevant in the Caribbean context — she manages dengue, childhood tuberculosis, and vaccine-preventable disease. She also supports children with chronic conditions including paediatric asthma, type 1 diabetes, and sickle cell disease, coordinating with sub-specialist services in larger Caribbean centres where needed.
