Dr. Tamar Ben-David

Dr. Tamar Ben-David is a senior reproductive endocrinologist and IVF specialist at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) — one of Israel's largest academic hospitals and home to one of the country's most active IVF programs. Israel performs more IVF cycles per capita than any other country in the world, with public health funding supporting up to two children per couple, and Dr. Ben-David has spent 22 years within this uniquely supportive reproductive medicine ecosystem.

Israel has also become a destination for international fertility patients — particularly from Europe and North America — who seek high-quality IVF at competitive costs, or who require specialized treatment unavailable in their home countries. Dr. Ben-David sees patients from across Europe, the Americas, and the Jewish diaspora worldwide, and is experienced managing the logistical challenges of international IVF cycles including remote ovarian monitoring coordination and timed intercontinental travel.

Her clinical focus areas include recurrent IVF failure, recurrent pregnancy loss, poor ovarian reserve, and fertility preservation for patients facing gonadotoxic chemotherapy or elective social egg freezing. She works closely with the Tel Aviv Sourasky genetic counseling team and performs preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) and monogenic disease (PGT-M) as standard for eligible patients.

Dr. Ben-David obtained her MD from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. She undertook a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship at the University of Brussels (VUB) under one of Europe's pioneer IVF programs. She holds a PhD in Reproductive Biology from Tel Aviv University, focusing on embryo implantation mechanisms. She holds the FRCOG (Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) and maintains active membership in ESHRE and ASRM. She is a senior clinical lecturer at Tel Aviv University Sackler Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Ben-David's IVF practice covers all standard and advanced assisted reproductive techniques: controlled ovarian stimulation with GnRH agonist and antagonist protocols, oocyte retrieval under ultrasound guidance, conventional IVF, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), blastocyst culture and selection, and fresh and frozen embryo transfer. She is experienced in fertility preservation — both emergency oncofertility egg freezing and elective vitrification — and in gestational carrier cycles. Her recurrent pregnancy loss clinic offers a comprehensive thrombophilia, immunological, anatomical, and genetic work-up. She performs office hysteroscopy for uterine anomaly assessment and treatment. She also manages premature ovarian insufficiency and PCOS-related infertility.

Dr. Ben-David has published widely in Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility, and the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics on topics including PGT-A outcomes in recurrent implantation failure, endometrial receptivity assessment, and IVF outcomes in poor responders. She is a regular speaker at ESHRE annual meetings and the Israel Fertility Association symposia. Her translational research on endometrial biomarkers for implantation has been supported by grants from the Israel Science Foundation.

Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center's IVF unit has extensive experience managing international patients. Dr. Ben-David offers remote ovarian stimulation monitoring coordination for patients who prefer to perform early monitoring at home and travel to Tel Aviv only for the egg retrieval phase. She consults in Hebrew, English, and French. Video consultations are available for initial fertility assessment, cycle planning, and follow-up after embryo transfer. The hospital's international patient office provides comprehensive support including accommodation, visa letters, and insurance documentation.
